    Old School 340 Build

I guess we should keep eyes peeled for when you drop that thread in the racers forum

    Old School 340 Build

Another Scamp! Yes, that should do well--should be in the low-mid 11s when it hooks, no?

    Old School 340 Build

I'll confess I was expecting something less impressive, but that ought to be more fun than a barrel full of monkeys if it drops in an A body with say about 3800 worth of stall and some 4.10-4.30 gears?

    Old School 340 Build

what the hell... 382hp / 399tq, peak pwr at 5700, torque at 4600

    OPINION ON DISTRIBUTOR

...of mechanical, the total timing is 31° BTDC. Note that Total timing never includes vacuum advance." because of this: ...so unless you've done something to your distributor, MSD says the vacuum can adds only 10*... All that being said, RRR and Joe already covered all the important parts...

    OPINION ON DISTRIBUTOR

...difficult to limit it, if you need to https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/MSD-8388.pdf ...also, according to the instructions, they only provide 10* of additional advance...if you have 35 total, then you should only be getting 45 under part throttle cruise with total...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I was asking more for fitment than for anything else. I just don't know if the C body manifolds would clear accessories or steering gear when you rotate them around backward to put the exit toward the front of the vehicle. I have a 383 that is slated to go in a Ramcharger...kinda thinkin how...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I just went back through the thread again...do you think a set of the C body log style manifolds would work in a BB application?

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I think the off the shelf block huggers are usually center collector, which would interfere with the factory steering gear. You might be able to use the hedman shorty headers, but something tells me the hot side piping would be a bit of a chore. That being said, where there's a will, there's a...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Dunno if anyone actually took the time to watch a couple of his other youtube vids, but... Of course it's difficult to tell, but looks like it's moving along pretty well to me.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

X2 I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when this thread popped up a couple years ago, but I'm pretty glad to see the progress.

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

Me too! Life would be pretty difficult if I couldn't, eh?

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

He's said about 4 times on this thread he won't estimate or release a price until all the testing's done...

    Magnum Camshaft help?

Mid 12s isn't exactly slow... But, if there's something I've noticed on here, as opposed to seeking out and achieving a hp number, describe everything about your car as it sits right now, then give a goal in ET/mph and the folks on here like IQ52 can aid in pointing you in a direction.
  15. txstang84

    Magnum Camshaft help?

Are you just trying to embarrass someone specific, or is there a time you're looking for? Have you modified your suspension and chassis to effectively get all the time you can out of it? Or are you OK turning your tires into expensive clouds of smoke in pursuit of shaming someone?

    Magnum Camshaft help?

...step on a limb and assume you have a 5.9...with a stock bottom end advertised at 9.1:1, and 58cc chambers (assuming the advertising is accurate) should* put you around 9.5:1 Otherwise, longevity of any valvetrain is based on the correct matching of parts and operating within their intended...

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

First, no one here (I tend to think) would argue that... But, if ya hadn't noticed, this thread is purely tongue in cheek ;)

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

Daaaaamn! That had to be right after a keg stand gone awry
  19. txstang84

    Another Edelbrock RPM head question!

^^^ Yes on the actual cranking pressure, and the actual valve events.

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

Immediate answer is shorter seat to seat (duration), but if you advanced a longer duration cam to the point where it did that, you might be kissing pistons or at least have something that doesn't run right...

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

    The answer is: Yes.
  22. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

geezus that sounds awful...and probably drones like a sonofabitch--tinnitus in the making right there.
  23. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

Good luck finding one still running--but I would like to hear it. 8 cylinders still, by definition, fire every 90* of crank rotation, but will probably sound somewhat different due to the way the exhaust would be scavenged...would it be a solid log manifold, or a tuned header? Or a Dual...
  24. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

The thip thip thip vs thap thap thap is more about pipe diameter, although a shallower sound would indicate a relatively quick exhaust closing event to me...

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

But you're still using 4 cylinders as an example when you introduced the topic as how to tune the sound of shitpacks, I mean glasspacks, on a V8 by changing your cam timing or attributes. Your post is again invalid. Try again
  26. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

...Besides, if you're going to actually use glasspacks, just spring for a real set and buy the dynomax race bullets or something similar...the dime store thrush or cherry bombs are downright awful and remind me of far too many mid 70s chevy pickups with wagon wheels and mud tires only on the...
  27. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

Ah, but now you're muddying the waters--that's a boxer 4, not a 90* V8 Your post is invalid and irrelevant
  28. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

I would say the same thing goes for the F bodies, but they used the single in dual out mufflers near the bumper from 82-02, then swapped to dual mufflers near the bumper in '10 when they came back on the market...
  29. txstang84

LSA or Duration to fine tune glasspacks??

Case in point: Go listen to the exhaust note of an SN95 Mustang with a 4.6 with mufflers before the axle, then listen to an S197 or S550 ('05-up) with a 4.6 or 5.0 and the mufflers at the bumper. Hint: They do NOT sound the same despite all else being equal (type of muffler, whether or not...
