Can't keep Timing tape on balancer

Maybe it's the direction around that you are doing it that's at fault. If it has an overlap and you've got the wrong end overlapped it's more likely to 'catch air' as the balancer spins.

I don't have an actual cam to recommend but if you're going for image, I'd pick a cam with a really erratic idle that will shake the car when it idles and scare small children.

New Motor for the Cuda - MRL Performance 340 Stroker

One day I'd like to see a list of FABO members that are running MRL engines.

I think I'd flip the front end (all in steel). I did it on a '65 Coronet back in the day.

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

I'm not surprised that companies do not have someone designated to scour the internet looking for pro/con feedback on the goods and services they sell. I'm sure most focus their attention on the nuts and bolts aspects of their operations. But PR can be a key factor on the success or failure...

There have also been a lot of complaints about Indy on this site. Everybody seems to like their heads but not their 'crate' motors.

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

A few weeks after I ordered my engine from MRL I went to a swap meet in Lincoln, Nebraska. There was a vendor there that was selling fresh 350 Chevy crate motors for $650. No wonder them bowtie boys are outnumbering us. They can build a car for so much less.

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

Great point! It'd be in every Mopar guy's best interest if we could get more vendors involved and saw the prices of our parts start to drop. I may not have gone with Blueprint but I'm hoping they prove to be a reputable business. Yup. They may not WANT to have any dirty laundry aired out...

I agree. I'm not regretting my decision to go with MRL, but I would have given really serious consideration to Blueprint had I read that response.

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

blownhemi, I think that it's a good idea to seek out advice from others before making a major purchase. - And I don't have a bone to pick with Blueprint engines. I do think it's normal to hear a few complaints about any company. But there seems to be more than a few here. There have been...

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

I was really hoping on hearing good things about them when I saw that there was some sort of association with my home state. I thought maybe I could do business locally and avoid shipping fees. I would think too that they would address some of the comments that were made. At this point the...

    Crate 360 vs DIY Built

We've probably done 90-95% of all the work ourselves on the vehicles we've got. The 408 that I ordered from Mike is the only engine I haven't put together in one of our shops. I will be doing the 512 that's slated for our Charger myself too. But am I as confident in the decisions I've made...

    Crate 360 vs DIY Built

The benefits you get from a good engine builder are features such as head porting, establishing optimum quench, flow testing, having your heads cc'd, cam degreeing, expert selection of components, etc, etc... The engine I ordered from Mike is the first one I've ever ordered from anyone. I...

    408 blueprint motor 445 hp

I am no expert when it comes to these stroker motors, but earlier this year I did quite a bit of research into where to get one myself. The largest amount of positive things that I was hearing were about MRL. I decided to have Mike over there build me a 408. I don't have it here yet but he...

    six pack carb help

I was just talking to the guy that I sold my '69 six pack Super Bee to earlier today. He said the exact same thing as rklein383. Apparently those leaded mixture screws on the outboard carbs were often incorrectly set when the carbs were new. He said it made a world of difference readjusting...

New Motor for the Cuda - MRL Performance 340 Stroker

I realize that it is possible to have an engine rebuilt cheaper than what MRL charges to sell a completed stroker engine. But when you buy from Mike you don't have to supply a core motor. And you are going to get much higher quality components than you would in a budget build. One of the...

New Motor for the Cuda - MRL Performance 340 Stroker

I've been restraining myself from calling Mike to see how my engine build is coming along. He's been a great guy to deal with so far. I ordered a complete carb to pan stroker from him but I'm sending him my distributor, wires, and valve covers to save me a few $$$.
