Getting Ready for the Magnum Swap. (help?)

Yep, 96 was the change year. It could be either a 46RH (A518 hydraulic) or a 46RE (A518 Electronic) The RE versions MUST have a computer, either aftermarket or OEM. I almost missed that completely, thanks. The 904 would bolt right up to the Magnum, or you could go with a 95 and down A500...

Getting Ready for the Magnum Swap. (help?)

OH, man there are so many variables in that. Things like ignition, carburetion and headers have so many possibilities it endless. There's throttle body injection. Port fuel injection. Then straight carburetion for some basic answers on that subject. Then there's EFI controlled timing...

Magnum EFI Return or Returnless? & Vacuum Regulator Question

Racing regs are no more than a certain amount of rubber hose in the entire line, and it isn't much. Maybe consider nylon 12 EFI line or steel/aluminum if wanting to pass regs. I ran 3/8 nylon 12 for the feed and return both, though I have no intention of racing it.

Magnum EFI Return or Returnless? & Vacuum Regulator Question

On a return system the regulator can be either before or after the fuel rail because it just regulates the pressure in the total line between the fuel pump and regulator.

Magnum EFI Return or Returnless? & Vacuum Regulator Question

I would do a return for where you live, as you will get cooler fuel from the circulation. The regulator can be placed pretty much anywhere in the return, but don't know about the vacuum part unless it's for referencing the pressure for some reason. (usually referencing is for boosted...

I used the 1996 OE balancer and LA pulley with the bolts and one holed egged out to fit

Who has done a magnum swap into a 67-69 Dart?

No clearance issue's at all with the motor or accessories. I run headers but the EQ's are direct replacement Magnum heads, which means the factory Magnum manifolds fit like they did on the OEM heads. I was running these same headers on my 318 in anticipation of the bigger motor and used Remflex...

Who has done a magnum swap into a 67-69 Dart?

This is a Magnum with the LA front accessories and EQ heads drilled for the LA style intakes. (you can order the heads either way) CH318B is La drilled intake bolts and CH318A are drilled for Magnum intakes. Both LA and Magnum valve covers also fit the EQ heads. Everything including all the...

    5.9 magnum header bolts

Yea, like where some of the tubes cross back over the top of the bolts. They are already tight with 5/16 (which I have never had a problem with 5/16) A person could get away with it with 3/8 allen bolts, but cutting the allen wrench down to get in under the pipes is going to be mandatory.

    What parts from la 318?

This is a 5.9 with all the 318 LA motor front accessories and EQ heads drilled for the LA style intakes. Even the valve covers are the LA style, because 5 of the Magnum valve cover bolt holes line up with the 5 in the LA covers, and you can even use the Magnum silicone gaskets. Looks just like a...

    Fair price for 360 magnum?

With the two piece balancer/pulley an LA belt pulley can be installed by egging one of the pulley bolt holes, just like with the Magnum flex plate to LA style converter.

    Fair price for 360 magnum?

I paid 500 delivered to my house for a 96, guaranteed, less than 100k and I didn't have to pull it. The oil level literally hasn't moved since I put it in almost a year ago. That was a deal I could work with.:D

    Couple questions about eq heads?

Mine is a daily driver as well, so I wanted it to be reliable but still fun around town. I'd like a little more stall out of the converter and I'm going to be putting a Jeep Grand Cherokee disc brake rear end in it with lower gears and a limited slip. Right now at 80 it's turning about 2,100...

    Couple questions about eq heads?

If I had nothing better to do or spend money on I might go another step or two up on durations, but the one I have is 214/224 @.050 .512 lift with 1.6 rockers on a 110 lobe center. It is a Magnum regrind from Oregon Cam Grinders. It's actually mild enough that I can tune the light lope out of...

    Couple questions about eq heads?

I mean you can use LA 5 bolt valve covers on the 10 bolt heads because the 5 bolts that LA covers use line up with 5 of the EQ or Magnum bolt holes. These are fabbed LA style 5 bolt covers on the EQ heads and an LA style intake on the CH318B heads.

    Couple questions about eq heads?

Yep, with flat machined rails and LA covers fit 5 of those bolt holes.

    Couple questions about eq heads?

EQ's are marked on one end of each head. #CH318B is drilled for LA style intake bolt angles, and #CH318A are vertical Magnum bolt drilled.

    Couple questions about eq heads?

If you want true out of the box ready to run you can't go wrong with IMM or Hughes either one. Odessa Cylinder Head in Texas is a decent source for the basic heads and good prices, but they don't do custom stuff like springs and such as far as I know, and the ones that come on preassembled heads...

Harmonic balancer oil leak in magnum.

From the factory Magnums had a plastic sealing washer under the bolt to keep oil from coming out from between the crank snout and balancer. Could this be the problem? If you are sure it's coming from the seal to balancer hub then the timing cover isn't centered, and therefor neither is the seal...

    Magnum Cam recommendation

That was exactly what I was going for as a daily around the local towns driver, plus I didn't want to get into durations that might be a detriment to fuel economy when I didn't need it. I might go a bit longer durations in the future, but we'll see. Timing was a pretty big deal to me also, as I...

    Magnum Cam recommendation

That I do, and that you did thank you. It ran me about 150 shipped for a regrind from Oregon Cam Grinders and is 214/224 @.050 on a 110 LSA and .512 lift hydraulic Magnum roller regrind. (No mechanical pump provision) Projections were about 420 torque at 3,800 RPM's with a range of 1,500 to...

New to magnum swaps - opportunity came to me - is it worth it

I paid 5 for mine with 96k on it but it looked a whole lot better than that, not that it matters what they look like necessarily. Unless it's opened up and inspected it's a core (to the buyer) and the seller should understand that. (what if it has a spun bearing or scratched to hell cylinder?)...

    parts list for swap ?

Yea I was thinking van for some reason. All the same stuff applies to trucks too, since they are pretty much the same thing in the front end. Or am I just "out there" today? :D

    parts list for swap ?

The Durango pan might be fine in a van, but I don't know that for sure. The vans steering assy might need specific clearance places that the Durango pan could interfere with. My own experience tells me that vans usually have a crapload of clearance, and the motor is hung well above the steering...

    parts list for swap ?

Nope, the pan seal area around the rear main cap of the 5.2 vs the 360 or 5.9 is a different size and they will not interchange.

    Thinking about going 5.9

Like I said, I did have to trim down the loop that goes over the top of the trans where the trans cross member is, but other than that no cutting. The driveshaft was cut down for the difference since the A500 is longer. (about 4 inches shorter)
