Attempt at test running a Magnum

Yes, the tank came from a '92 B250. The van had a Magnum MPFI 5.2, which is also in my garage. I didn't get the '94 Dakota tank because of reasons.

Attempt at test running a Magnum

I want to test run the engine before putting it in the Dart. Since I pulled the entire harness from the 1994 Dakota, I hooked everything up and wired together all of the grounds. It cranks and is firing, but isn't getting fuel. A few things I think it could be is fuel level, fuel pressure, and...

    Ram/Dakota Shorty Header Clearance

That's what I was worried about. The way the number 7 tube comes and curles around was where I think it would hit the steering column.

    Ram/Dakota Shorty Header Clearance

Has anyone tried to fit a set of shorty headers for a Ram/Dakota in an A Body? They were on the motor I pulled from the parts truck. I would like to use them because my 1971 Dart Swinger has long tubes on it that hang really low and are in the way of everything steering related. Pictures of the...

Six years should be long enough...

The next updates will be the actual engine swap since this is a Magnum swap section. I can post everything else in another thread. I have to move stuff around in my way too small garage and get the parts car out before I can get started. I would like to test run the Dakota Magnum engine before...

Six years should be long enough...

Had to wait a week after buying to bring it home, since we bought on a Sunday with no plan in advance to bring it home. That was the longest week of my life. We made the trip from Harrisburg, PA to the middle of Ohio over a weekend. The 1,000 mile roundtrip was rough on us but we made it. First...

Six years should be long enough...

Fast forward to August of this year. While my wife and I were on a short vacation, I figured I would ruin it by looking at cars. I had been looking for a complete car that didn't need much body work, or a full on restoration like what mine needed. I found a 1971 Dart Swinger in Washington Court...

Six years should be long enough...

More pictures of the Dakota engine. It cleaned up decent. More Old Parts and Rust, or something like that. New adjustable strut rods. Classic Car Performance makes a full retro fitted tank for running EFI. It has a sump area for the high pressure pump and is recessed on the top for the...

Luckily this one was cheap enough, and made most of it back selling parts.

I didn't trust my welds in critical structural areas with as much rust as what this car had. You know as well as I do that when you start cutting out rust, there will be more to replace than what you thought. Yeah, I had fun with car. And in the process of parting it out I got to talk to guys...

Six years should be long enough...

I was able to find a stripped out shell that was much better condition than what I had, or so I thought. More on that later. One of the things that I failed to notice was the front inner fenders had been cut for some reason. That is a Magnum motor peeking out of there, but it's not the 1992...

This is one of the reasons I'm trying to convince my wife we need to leave the Rust Belt.

...six years have passed since I have made any progress on a project that was started in this thread: =tcanin00&o=date']Search results for query: * Short story long, the car I was trying to save was too far gone and became a parts car. What's left of the driver's side A pillar and rocker panel...

Might as well join the elite with a Magnum powered Dart

At you are, loganscuda. It's killing me that I can't work on it more than a day a two at time. Thanks RustyRatRod. I think your username describes my problem, I mean project pretty well.

Might as well join the elite with a Magnum powered Dart

Thanks Dartswinger70! I seem to be drawn to cars that are all but disintegrated. My buddy and I basically made a 1979 F-250 out of sheet metal and MIG wire. Now he owns that disaster, and my life wasn't complete until I found this one. I don't know how long this car sat around, but I do know it...

Yes Revhendo, Mopar ownership is dealt with by tolerance to financial loss.

Thanks for welcoming me to the community, guys! Please be patient with this build, as updates will be slow since the car is not at my house and funds are nearly non-existant.

Thanks MRGTX. It's going to present some challenges to say the least.

Might as well join the elite with a Magnum powered Dart

To be honest, ScampMike this really isn't much more than a parts car. It's in pretty bad shape and is rustier than it looks. But, these are the cars I tend to go for. Are you in the Douglas, MA area? My wife and I drove up from Harrisburg, PA because the Internets told me about this heap.

Might as well join the elite with a Magnum powered Dart

As implied I am planning an engine swap for a tired 1970 Dart Swinger. The original slant six runs decent, but a 5.2 Magnum would make things a lot more interesting. I would like to make this a build/engine swap thread because there are some issues that need to addressed before the original...

    [FOR SALE] Outer Wheelhouse Duster/Dart/Demon

I would be interested in these. They are the outer wheel openings, correct? Could you either post or PM some pictures? I live in Harrisburg, PA so I would be able to pick them up.

Recent Addition to the FABO Site

I have been watching this forum for some time now, and have finally purchased an A-body to post about. A (rusty) 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. I have been looking for a replacement to my Grandfather's 1973 Plymouth Scamp for over a decade. In 2006 when I went to Basic Training at relaxing Ft...
