No, it's been a long time since I bought anything at all from NAPA, but I am about to buy a new head gasket for the /6 car; I'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the info....:D

I just realized that I have totally hijacked this thread and for that I apologize. I won't write any more about rocker arms unless asked. Sorry... :angry7:

    Super Cool Slant Six Picture....

I took the opportunity to work with twelve of these amazing little engineering marvels and create a set of 1.6:1 (nominal) ratio rockers for our turbocharged engine. They are case-hardened at the factory, so the first thing I did was take them to a heat-treating facility to have the annealed...

    Super Cool Slant Six Picture....

and, did you ever take a good look at a slant six rocker arm? They are a work of art. They are stamped out of one piece of metal, bent 180-degrees, formed around the clearance adjuster screw, threaded, bushed for the shaft-mounting, and contain designed-in paths for the lubricating oil to flow...

and, I look at Auto Zone for a head gasket and they tell me that Fel Pro is the only manufacturer making a commercially-available head gasket for a slant six. Same answer at Advance Auto Parts... and Cometic will make me one if I want to pony up $3,000.00 for the tooling... FIFTEEN...

    225 intake valve mod

I'll take the cam out and examine the gear teeth on the oil pump drive after it's seen some more action. So far, so good...:prayer::prayer::prayer:

    225 intake valve mod

I called Frank and he said that all the pumps he sold had hardened gears, so the Comp cam was gonna be no problem. Hope he's right... I don't plan on using that cam until I get a baseline output number with this Bullet cam that's in there, and who knows when that will be???????????? :wack...

Thanks. I'll give Frank a call about this.

    Slant 727 WIW

That will fix the exploding problem but the problem of the transmission slowly destroying itself with its own inertia remains (727.) The aluminum clutch drum will go a long way toward alleviating that problem.

    225 intake valve mod

Ed, is there a fix for this problem? The oil pump in our engine is a heavy-duty unit that we got from Frank Brent. I have a new Comp Cam lying on the floor here that I would like to try sometime down the road. But, not if it's going to eat the oil pump gear. What to do???

    Slant 727 WIW

Yes; aluminum clutch drums are available for both the 727 and the 904. But, the 904 will always be lighter, because it's smaller.

    Twin Carb slant setup

The difference that I can see between a HyperPak and a Hurricane is in the way the center two ports exit the plenum. The HyperpaK two center runners go straight to the head, while the Hurricane center runners exit the END of the plenum and bend around, adding length in an attempt to equalize...

    Twin Carb slant setup

The Slant Six is the red-headed stepchild of Mopar engines in this country (USA) but not in Australia; they love 'em down there. I have an Aussie Hurricane, long-ram intake on my engine and it is a work of art!!! Well worth the $400 I paid for it! And yes, there are some VERY fast Slant...

    Slant 727 WIW

I have been a cyber-junkie since before the Internet existed, serving as the Moderator of the Prodigy Drag Racing Bulletin Board (no kidding!) for a few years before the Internet came online. I say that to emphasize the fact that the thousands of hours I have spent talking to people online has...

    Slant 727 WIW

Yes, I should have qualified my statement relative to Len's comment that 727's blow themselves up because of their own excessive mass as regards the usage... He deals in racing transmissions almost exclusively, so when he talks about things like design flaws and the effects of those flaws on...
