Installing a new stereo in the dash...help please..

I'm in the process of redoing my dash completely. I filled in the original heater control opening, am going to move the original radio opening over and cut it to accept a single DIN, and then cut out for the Vintage Air controls. I have never passed up buying a car due to the dash being cut...

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Thanks! Harbor Freight Yellow Monster. :) The gun is only $99 and then they get you on the $25 box of studs. Kind of like printers and ink cartridges.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Started the body work today. It's going to be a slow process since I am not a very big fan of lots of filler. The passenger side is the worse so I thought I would tackle it first. In a couple of spots the body lines (creases) were gone. They're back again!!! Here's what I have so far-

What are you planning for the fall / winter?

Since the temperature stays comfortable here pretty much year round I'll be finishing my car. Hope to have it done by Thanksgiving. I do have the itch to build another shop and use my garage as a garage again. I'm trying not to be impulsive, just not trying very hard.

Appraised at $21,000. Must be the stripe.

The grill looks like aluminum soffit vents from Home Depot. That makes it a "custom" job.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Thanks! I really lucked out on this one. There really are no rust issues except for the spare tire well I replaced. I went and looked at a 72 Demon in San Antonio yesterday with just a 400 block and no tranny. The guy wanted $2,500 and it was pathetic. All he kept saying was how rare they...

They are called "whiskers." At least that is what Fran called them when I ordered them through him.

    door to glass weather striping

Contact JustMopar.com Fran, the owner, is a sponsor of this site. I replaced every seal, weather strip, gasket, bumper extra on my 71 Demon and got them all from them.

Okay :) I use a family run place in Austin, Texas which is near me. It's called Cen-Tex Plating.

    Rechrome bumper tri city

In my experience doing a rechrome has been better. The original bumpers seem thicker and the chrome shop I use is phenomenal and cheaper than an after market. They straighten and repair anything that needs to be done, remove all dings and dents, even rechrome the bolts. They strip everything...

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

I've been working on modifying the dash the past couple of days. The previous owner had screwed on a cheesy hand made cover plate over the heater controls. The screws weren't even aligned. I'm adding a Vintage Air Gen II system and using their control box. I'm also adding a single DIN stereo...

[SOLD] 440 and 727 trans for sale

Wished I lived close enough to come get that. I have no need for it at all but for that price I would find something to put it in. Good luck with your sale!

    Carpet

There was another thread about this recently and from what I recall some were saying that Trim Parts was better quality. You might do a search and locate that thread. I purchased ACC for my 71 Demon, haven't installed it yet but am pleased with the quality of the carpet and the padding so far.

    Bye bye gold membership

Rodzilla- "If you drink beer or smoke cigarettes you can afford to buy a membership, Joey isn't getting rich off this place." EXACTLY!!!! My gosh it costs about a dime a day. Drink one less soda a week and you cover the cost. This web site costs money to maintain. I have a non-profit and...

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

It was $675.00. Took him a little over 4 hours. The interior is in great shape and didn't need to be blasted which helped.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Trying to get as much done as I can. Got the direct to metal primer on and she's back in the shop. Unfortunately this is probably where it will get slow. I can do all the body work except work metal to look decent. I'm not a fan of large amounts of filler at all. I've been looking for...

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Here are some "before" pics of the car prior to media blasting. They are going to use glass which will not warp the panels like garnet or aluminum oxide can. It leaves a better profile for coating adherence than soda plus glass doesn't have the need for washing and neutralizing like soda. The...

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to get it all together and undo the current U-bolts to achieve the desired height and then measure it for the correct size blocks. Unless there is another way of doing it.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Here's a couple more pics of the wheels and tires. I'm hoping I can lower the back of the car some with blocks and longer U-bolts so that it doesn't have such a raked look to it.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

The longer I've had the Swinger the more I'm inclined to agree with you. Some of the parts I was planning on using for the Demon won't fit so more of the Swinger is intact. I am using the front seat and front fenders off the Swinger. Saved $600 by doing that which will pay for the media...

Thanks for the heads up! I'll wrap everything that might possibly be an issue. Since they are not blasting the undercarriage or any suspension parts it should be okay.

[SOLD] Mancini A Body Aluminum Strut Rod Set new

Why are the aluminum stated as "race" and the steel are for "street"? Just curious, I will be replacing the bushings on a build I'm doing and polished aluminum would look really good.

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

1971 Demon - My First Mopar Build

Thanks! The blasting is just for paint removal. Mostly because I found out early on in the build that the car had been wrecked and I want to see what's been done. I've found a couple of spots where they used lead to make the repairs. Only rust issue was the spare tire well which I replaced...
