What is your initial timing? Sometimes if the initial is too high, when the vacuum comes in it will ping. I had the same problem, and had to lower the initial timing. I know all set ups are different, but I run 12deg. initial, 34 deg. total, and all in with vacuum advance is around 45 deg.

I love the short shifter handle of the E and B body slapstick, the Ebody console is a little too wide but it will fit. I like the look of the A body console better, and is a better fit but I feel like the the short shifter be moved too far forward?

If you have new bolts, it would be easier to just cut the old ones off.

Yea, will most likely need a torch. I did a set last year, thought it was going to be easy, until I got to the LCA bolts. It took a while to get them loose, had to use heat after all else failed.

I am looking to upgrade the cam later, and possibly the heads. I want to buy a converter now that will work for both possible scenarios.

The turbo action S-800 tight was what i was leaning towards, right at the top of my budget too. I may upgrade the cam, and valve springs later, but that's about it, nothing too drastic from stock. I already have the correct flex plate for a neutral balance converter as well.

I have a stock 01 5.9 magnum in a 71 dart. 340 hp manifolds, 727, and an 8 3/4 with 3:55 gears. Street only, I do highway drive occasionally at around300 rpms. I am looking for a good tight street converter, any suggestions?

Just replace what you need, cut as little of the original quarter as possible. Cut the same sections from the panel as well, don't try to replace the whole quarter.

I had one of those Jegs blue boxes on my car last summer, it ran fine, but once warm it was hard starting, I didn't trust it. I took it off after a few months, put my old stock one back on, and kept the blue one for a spare.

I had concerns of it being too loose, I am going to run it, and see how it does.
