We are headed to the city today and Thur. for doc appointments. HF stripper is on sale at about $125 IF you pay the bandits $35 for their "membership"! I have wondered awhile how well they work and if they eat those drums like a kid and M & Ms???? Amazing how well I have done with the $35...

    contour paint stripper

The contour stripper is a "sander" that uses a drum made of the honeycomb type material. I have seen it discussed a little on here, most people have bought one and never ysed the darn thing.

    Gas cap confusion

I have noticed after hunting an oem cap for several Fords ( yes whip my *** with wet noodle) that best way to find one is measure the inside and outside diameter of filler neck.\\\ If the tank is not vented ( like said) it will have a tube from it or in case of later B and E bodies, 4 hoses...

    Epoxy primer

When I mention SPI epoxy is sandable I am referring to IF the time spam has passed and it needs a scuff before going on as to the next step for me is in high build urethane or a poly primer. For those that don't know, epoxy primer is great because of its ability to stick to darn near anything...

Can epoxy primer be used over Rustoleum rattle can gloss black paint?

All of us car nuts are in a continual state of learning. IF we are actually doing something.... It would be great if we would all think to share our latest knowledge. Many times we don't because we get tired of having people tell us just how wrong and stupid we are ...maybe????? I have NEVER...

    Drip rail shaving

I wanted to go look at a couple of projects recently, but a POs had removed the drop rails so I declined. Yea I could obtain drips rails and reattach but I said screw it. I had a 71 Demon once a PO had removed the drip rails from, WHY I have NO idea. The only damn thing he did to the car good...

Tired of Body Filler Hardening Too Quickly?

The key is in the reducer temp. I always use a very slow reducer and they even have an additive to slow it even more. Think about if you have ever sprayed high build urethane primer on too hot of metal!!!

Tired of Body Filler Hardening Too Quickly?

Back in the late 89s early 90s I used 2 different guys for body/ paint. One guy was a case a day beer drinker but the best body man ever. Or I should say as good as the best. He was wayyyyy out in the stcks. Anyway, he said best time to shoot single stage was when there was some humidity. He...

    Paint Experts: Process Advice Needed

^^^^I agree with JDMopar there. If I have the jams, under hood, decklid, etc ready, I would either epoxy prime and shoot color OR epoxy prime do the urethane high fill, and to desired smoothness, OR/and when readdy for color, sand that as in prep for color.

    Remove rust inside door panels?

^^^^IMHO opinion "rust convertors " and acids that kill rust are two different things. If in doubt, ask a real resto shop or GOOD body man that question. I say DuPont, PPG etc. do not sell rust convertors they sell metal prep (not cleaner). But hey if it works, it works?????

    Remove rust inside door panels?

    Factory Paint in Rattle Cans?

Way back in the 60s my dad had a llittle Sears compressor, the tank might have been maybe 10 gal? He had an old siphon gun, and primed and painted my horse trailer F8 Met. Green. It turned out perfect. WTF!!! How!!!!! First time he ever attempted such. OK, so he was of the "Greatest...

    Factory Paint in Rattle Cans?

Single stage, ie 2K auto paint is always more durable and shiney than Rusteolum. Lets say you pay $100 for a qt. of 2 k body color with hardner. 5 spray cans of auto aerosol is what maybe $18-20 a can? The HF gun is dirt cheap and get the air gauge to attached at the gun. In general, set...

    Saving quarter panels

I have a bud back in rural Mo. that has a 40 acre old car boneyard. He is a Ponyac guy but still a good guy. He has a couple of Ponyac survivors like a 67 Firebird and a 65 Goat. He told me once, they had perfect trunk floors, etc because he kept the floors and surrounding area coated in used...
