Pic of my new MSD 6AL-2 ignition box

I know it doesn't look like your average MSD box, but believe me, this is it. I have tossed around the programmable ignition box and the E-curve distributor, but I decided to go with the box. Much more programmable and easier to set and play with. And cheaper. Now when I change between 93 octane...

how much of a job to change blinker switch???

My stalk keeps loosening up and it won't stay in position. Maybe your stalk is loose. I recommend loctite when you put it together. I also bought my turn signal switch and cancelling cam assembly from Napa. It goes pretty quickly and is pretty easy.

    Light conversion?

They fit easily, they are the same shape as any sealed beam. Get the relay kit, though. I owned a bar and would drive home at 3am and all of a sudden - poof! - no headlights. Then they would pop on. The relay kit makes them bright all the time, taking the rpm dim/bright out of the equation. Then...

    Light conversion?

Japanese, but whatever. I put them in my Dart three years ago and they work great. This exact same kit and I bought it from Amazon as well. Plus I have had Hella conversions in every car I have that they make them for going back 25 years. I have never had a problem. I love Hella lights...

    Light conversion?

I run Hella in my Dart. I love Hella. SlantSixDan likes different brands, and there are lots, but it all boils down to the cut and pattern. I have run Hella most of my life and love them. I did buy a relay wiring kit because the conversions draw enough power to pop the circuit breaker in your...

    Electric cooking fan...

Day one, I went to Best Buy, came out half an hour later to a dead battery because i left the toggle switch on. A $60 jump start later, I drove home and ordered the Derale thermo switch. It's still not installed. Stupid me.

    Electric cooking fan...

BBQ at your place? I ran power directly to the fan and ran a ground wire to my switch. I have a thermo switch gathering dust in it's box because I have been too busy to put it in. I recommend a thermo switch. One time forgetting to switch it on can be catastrophic. Leaving it on results in a...

Anyone tried an MSD E Curve distributor?

I have an MSD Blaster coil now. I don't know. The instructions seem a little hinky on the curves. It doesn't seem to be able to dial in as well as I'd like. Preset curves, and fairly large gaps in timing. I'd like to hear more about them.

Anyone tried an MSD E Curve distributor?

I was reading the instructions online and I saw that. When they talked about 100 different curves available, there really wasn't, and as you say the advance was even numbered. That was why I posted this. I wanted to see if anyone had any practical experience other than my carb guy. The...

Anyone tried an MSD E Curve distributor?

I was going to buy a new MSD 6AL2 programmable to let me play with timing. My brother has one and I like the idea of it. I was all set to order it today when my carb guy says he uses the MSD E Curve distributor on his 340 and 360. Three wires, adjustable timing curves, and no need for an MSD...

    One wire alternator.

Can't you run direct battery power to the alternator through a relay that is triggered on by the ignition switch? We just wired a Jeep Willys in the shop the other day. The PO put in a one wire GM alternator that didn't charge until high rpms. My tech drove one of those Jeeps for years in the...

Anyone using a programmable MSD box?

I think it might be the way to go. I can time the vehicle as I need and get the rev limiter as well. Might have to consider this.

No one? Someone must at least have an opinion. This is FABO after all!

Anyone using a programmable MSD box?

I have a MSD-6 ignition set up with a MSD Pro billet distributor. I have absolutely no complaints and it works very well. I am very interested in the adjustability of a programmable MSD set up. Would it be worth my while? I am more interested in the timing adjustments than anything. I change...

Looking for a good shop to do speedometer and gauge restoration

I have a place we use at the shop that is very good. I asked him if they could fix mine and he said they couldn't do it. I have heard of Dash Worx, but nothing good. I don't have any personal experience with them, though. Wish I could help. If you find a place, I would like to know as well. I...

Is there such a thing as a low RPM alternator

Grounds are good. Standard pulleys. I am not looking for full capacity at idle, but it should not be 10 volts. The vehicle is discharging at idle. I would think 12 volts should be an absolute bare minimum. My modern cars don't get below 13 volts.

Is there such a thing as a low RPM alternator

Like most of us, my Dart voltage drops below 12 volts at idle, but runs 14-15 at cruising speed. is there such a thing as an alternator that is designed to work at full capacity at lower rpms, or is there something else I can do? I do not use the factory ammeter. I disconnected it and connected...

    Aftermarket Electric Speedometer?

Interesting and awesome. I love having a quiet speedo that is accurate. Wiring the sensor to the speedo took 20 minutes. Piece of cake. Two wires and the ground just had to run to the tranny mount bolt at the crossmember - 6 inches. This is what it looks like in action.

    Aftermarket Electric Speedometer?

You replace the driven gear with an electric speed sensor. It goes right where the old cable would go. Ground one wire, run the other to the speedo. Hit your button sequence, drive exactly two miles and hit the button and it is calibrated. Mine works perfectly.

That is exactly how you do it. I used my phone for the exact two miles, but they also recommend using the highway mileage markers.

    Aftermarket Electric Speedometer?

I have an Autometer electric speedo in my car. I installed the sender where the driven gear would go, ran a ground to the crossmember bolt, and a single wire back up along the firewall to the speedo. I calibrated it with my phone's gps. It works so nicely, I can't even tell you. I have 4.10...

    Electrical ??

I bought mine elsewhere, but Crackedback here on FABO makes a great set. Send him a PM. I went with upgraded Hella headlights and the headlight switch kept popping, usually at two or three in the morning. I added the relay system and had it installed in about fifteen minutes. It draws power...

    Electrical ??

If you can get the brushes, diodes, rectifiers and bearings, rebuilding alternators is pretty easy. The hard part will be finding the parts. No one seems to sell them anymore. Plus, a rebuilt is pretty cheap these days. My brother probably has a half dozen laying around his garage if you want a...
