Pin hole in cast iron head

I have some radically modded 318 heads with 2.02's which developed a pin hole in the bowls I should look at fixing.

Thrust issues with AFR gauge and Brawler carb

Hard to tell from those photos but most likely an ignition issue. When the calibration is close to stock then I would suspect ignition. I've seen a 0.5v drop in alternator voltage output change the burn to make it look rich when the AFR didn't change.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Yes. Pretty much. Yes, Allstate Carbs Depends on the Tslot size.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

The standard Holley metering blocks come with the IFR in the right location. They do. I just pulled some out of a 650 HP main body as I paired it with a stock Holley base plate.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

That should be a good start. Change the base plate to the Holley and relocate the IFR to the lower part of the metering block so its submerged. Does the main body have a Tslot restrictor in the body?

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Carbs are a case of suck it and see. It may be easier to just get an after market main body with adjustable air bleeds to play around with. The pain in the arse with Holleys is changing IFRs at least with adjustable IABs you get a better understanding of what your engine wants. If you...

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Run a cranking compression test. Just remember the idle circuit sees vacuum when the blades are closed. Once you open the throttle blades the vacuum generated falls away and the transfer slot begins to see more vacuum generated there.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

The reason the idle screws no longer work is you're out of range of their operation and into the T slot. The T slot and idle are fed from the same source so as one increases the other diminishes.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

That idle is quite high. What's the cam specs and how much vacuum is it making at 850? What's the jetting?

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Once they are set up correctly you can get them to where they only drop 50 RPM Change that. What are the IAB's and IFR'S

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

In most cases the aftermarket transfer slots are too big and need TSR to get them right or as some one I know who knows more about this stuff said he just rips them off and puts the OEM holley base plates back on.

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Is it a standard Holley baseplate or a HP/ Aftermarket baseplate?

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

Is it a 1-1 linkage as well?

    Idle Transfer Slot on secondaries?

In most cases the transfer slot on the secondary's are usually shorter and higher. To get the so called small square window on the secondary's would require you to open them too far allowing too much are in and raising the idle speed.

Which head/combustion chamber is better for performance? Speed master aluminum LA or aftermarket magnum iron head?

Can you elaborate on the specs please. Most 400 cube small block mopars usually run mid 10's with an OEM style head.

    Data Logger Suggestions

It really comes down to sample rate and cost. You could find an old DL-32 for cheap if you don't need high sample rates. Other wise RPM seems decent and if you have the money Racepak

    Spark plug reading

That can also mean it's lean at time of ignition at the spark plug and that would correspond with clean plugs and electrode wear. Just because you give a cylinder an AFR of 12.5 to 1 doesn't mean that's the AFR at the plug when you fire it. Shrinker on electrode wear: I dont know anything...

    (2)450 DP's vs (2)750 DP's

Something to consider: Shrinker on the "Kill Bleed" G'morning Shrinker, So what happens with the opposite extremes? One case being too large of an air bleed (always atmospheric in the air well), and too large of a 'kill bleed' and/or e-holes above fuel level. The other case also being too...

how does a 318 engine run if timing is off ?

Fix it. You should be aiming for at least 14v or more at idle. Also if the spark plug doesn't reach far enough into the cylinder it is igniting the mixture at the boundary layer at the chamber wall so its not going to be the best mixture to get the burn started correctly.
