Give your pickle fork a rest

Yes, the tool could seriously hurt you if you are not careful and prepared. But that’s not a good reason to not use one. A pickle fork is so cave man and smacking your hands with the hammer sucks as well.

Upgrades to my stock 273 67 Dart GT

Yep, these heads with 1.94/1.88 in and 1.6 exh valves along with bowl blending and a gasket match will increase performance along with a recurved mopar performance electronic ignition setup. It’s performance that doesn’t wear out. After that I would look into the 4 barrel setup and a quality...

Overdrive Transmission for 630 HP motor

I have a 86 dodge d150, 318 with a 727 electric overdrive. I have heard these transmissions have all the durability of a regular 727. Might make a good choice after beefing it up to handle your torque and horsepower.

Give your pickle fork a rest

These babies work like magic, got mine at harbor freight for $20. No more bashing pickle forks like a hammer mechanic. Word of caution, the ball joint tends to come out flying like cruise missile, so be prepared and stay out of the way. Also do not use around anything valuable that could be...

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

While a Dana is going to hold up to slicks and a glued track, your going to notice the heavier rear end while on the street. It’s not going to handle as well. Usually the weak spot on an 8 3/4 is that the housing flexes and that can be solved to a point by bracing the back side, but that may not...

    Banned from Facebook!!!!! Rant!

Every medium has bad actors. There is a few on here I’m not too happy with, but I’m only buying and selling on here cause the majority of guys on here are good eggs. The problem on Facebook is it’s so large and popular that the same percentage of bad actor is overwhelming.

Planning my shop Build-out for next summer, looking for advice.

I have 17 hung in my dad’s 2800 sq ft shop. Even though it’s daylight outside, they still throw alot of light. The one circled is the one that 1/2 half went dead after 5 years. Big deal, at $19 a pop, compare that to the cost of a cold weather 8ft florescent light and they are instant bright...

    Another 408 Validation

Actually 360 cast cranks are real stout. If your buying an aftermarket stroker crank, you might as well get one with a good reputation.

Insulation blanket is paper backed, thick paper as well. Anyways its all behind inside walls and ceiling and there is vapor barrier covering it all.

There are so many better quality cranks on the market today even if they cost more. I’ve heard to many eagles have snapped.

Planning my shop Build-out for next summer, looking for advice.

I got these from Amazon and have had really good luck with them. Way cheaper than florescent and I only had 1/2 of one go bad in 5 years. I replaced 50 florescent fixtures which I tossed out cause no one wants them. Big improvement, brighter and cheaper than buying bulbs and ballasts.

Planning my shop Build-out for next summer, looking for advice.

You can buy insulation in a big blanket that goes around the roof trusses right on the underside of the roof and down the walls. It insulates better cause there are no 2x4’s to transfer cold to the inside wall. On mine I ran siding faced plywood up 4 feet on the inside walls and the rest metal...

    Local 80 year old racer

I got bad knees, need knee surgery among other issues. I can’t run, but I can walk and do yard work and construction. A guy I used to work with wore out one knee joint playing baseball. He could turn his lower leg at the joint so his foot was 90 degrees to the joint. After he showed me that, I...

    New setup- 340 based 416, 360 based 387, or 360 based 408?

Considering the tall deck height and piston pin height of a stock 340/360, a stroked engine with the lighter pistons and properly lightened rotating assembly(rods and crank) will rpm pretty much the same.

    New setup- 340 based 416, 360 based 387, or 360 based 408?

As parts parts supply’s dry up for these dated assemblies and builds, I believe it would be best to converse with folks that build engines as a business and inquire about their parts suppliers.

You did this from an iPhone? All that comes up in share is airdrop, messages, mail and news.

    Finally had a good day.

Doctors told me “they don’t know what causes them”. They showed it to me and I said “no way that thing came out of my dick” but I was pretty messed up on the drugs they gave me.

    Finally had a good day.

From my experience, the first one is a killer. The second and third are not quite as painful and once it was confirmed that is what it was, I was like, meh I’ll get through this. But then again it was like 25 years between first and second, so I totally wasn’t expecting the second. The first...

    Hood scoop to big?

Just because his car and most cars of that era are shaped like a brick doesn’t mean it can’t be made worse and that scoop will. It’s kind of like rubbing salt in a wound after you already rubbed dirt in it, just my opinion. And that’s what he is looking for, opinions.

    Hood scoop to big?

I’d turn it around opening facing the windshield as far back as I could. Use a 14” K&N air filter 4” tall with a X stream top and cut the hole in the hood so it sticks through.

    Hood scoop to big?

That’s where all the good air is, right at the front of the hood.
