Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

Okay, Okay!!! Dana 60 because of the position of the pinion is actually a very efficient rear end, and is not a power robber even though it has a 9-3/4" ring gear. I run a Mark Williams billet cap on mine (actually I have Mark Williams caps on both sides, but totally not necessary) I just did...

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

In the photo of the housing getting narrowed up. That's a Dana 60 HD housing. Those are boat anchors with and not something I would ever use under a car. Getting a housing from 60's or 70's Ford F250 is a great place to find one, but you have to be careful in the mid 70's up because you could...

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

People argue and fight about this all the time. The bottom line is a Dana 60 will weigh more, but that weight is also putting more weight on the tires. So you actually get better traction because of it. If you do it right a Dana 60 can be done very reasonably. Tom

Rear end advice for racing with a 4 speed

If want to save yourself a lot of time and money put a Dana 60 or 9" Ford in there with 35-spline axles and you'll never have to think about issues again. Tom

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Most Pro Stock engines built today are in the 8.800" deck height and run a rod length around 5.900" Tom

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

The shorter the deck height the easier it is to make horsepower. If only needing 372" I would just buy an older used NASCAR engine and play with it. Tom

Does the mini starter change the "Chrysler sound" of start up?

Here's the best reason to do it besides a smaller, better working starter. Get an offset lug kit off of whoever was selling them here on FABO. Sorry I can't remember who I bought it from. Tom

    ~450hp from stock stroke 340?

This is the part that always get me with threads like this. You want 450 HP or more from a stoke stroke crankshaft, but it's street car, so drivability is a must. That requires at least 1.32 HP per cubic inch, and while achieving that is possible, it's not going to have street manners. I...

    ~450hp from stock stroke 340?

I am getting to the party late, but there is no way I would use Keith Black pistons. You can get a much higher quality off the shelf piston with ICON and they have a lot of SBM options. Tom

These are rare and very cool valve covers. They could be NOS because they don't look like they have ever been installed. No embedded marks on the bolt down tabs. All I can say is they look unused. These belong to my elderly friend that had them for a future project, but he got to old before...

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

If it requires bearings it's really a lot easier to just pull the engine. It's a lot faster and safer to me. Tom
