    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

I can't believe I didn't notice during the FOUR times I took them off to check the seats! :BangHead: I'm generally a stickler for details, I'm loosing my edge!!

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

Welp! @65Val and @Bewy for the win. I took the floats out 4 times and didn't notice anything wrong. Tonight I gave them a little shake and sure enough, fuel in one. New floats should be ready for pickup tomorrow. The carburetor is only three years old and I only adjusted the floats...

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

When down to 4.5 and it still flooded. It's massive, just pushing fuel out the vents. I ordered new needle and seats that will be here by Thursday so we'll see if they help. Checked the receipt and the carburetor is only 3 years old. Rob may be onto something with non-ethanol fuel causing...

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

I thought about that. The car was only driven a tiny bit in three months while we moved down to Florida. I was doing non-ethanol every other fill up. I'll give it one more look tomorrow and order needles if it keeps flooding. It is massive flooding.

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

I'll look at it again tomorrow to confirm there's nothing in the seat. I don't know where else it could be coming from...

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

Thanks all. I took the floats and needles off three times. Blew it out with carb cleaner. Regulator set at 5.5# verified with fuel pressure gauge. I flipped the top upside down to close the seats and tried blowing through - and it was definitely sealed when it's off the car. Put a new...

    Flooding AVS2 - What am I missing?

Any idea what might be happening? Drove to a show last Saturday. Car ran great there and back. Several days later tried starting it and discovered fuel coming out of the vents of the Edelbrock 650 AVS2 that's only 2 or 3 years old. Fuel is pouring out. Had the top off four times now. Floats...

Edelbrock 1406 Not Pulling Fuel into Carb

Pulling the line going into the carb (as @str12-340 mentioned) and testing to ensure its pumping that far will prove it's getting to the carb.

Difficulties with filling the tank all the way up

My 66 Barracuda will do that. I know about how much my tank will need (by tracking miles on the trip meter) so as it gets close I "try" to listen for the gas as it gets near. Also, around here the non-ethanol pump handles are variable speed that allow you to slow down the flow. They are great...

Very good question. @65dartcharger would know.

    2-Barrel to 4-Barrel Conversion

Good catch Mike!! That will get him a little straighter, like mine (it's on the left side at the rear of the head).

    2-Barrel to 4-Barrel Conversion

Mine is angled like that also, maybe not quite as much. Sure wish we could both find a way to bring it in a little tighter. But, I can get full throttle and throttle pressure without binding so I'm okay...until that nagging voice inside my head starts. Maybe someone else has ideas???

    2-Barrel to 4-Barrel Conversion

Here's my kickdown from a 66. Maybe the pics will help. I'm not 100% satisfied with the connection at the carb (Edelbrock). It sticks out and pushes the bar out but I get maximum throttle at maximum throttle pressure.

    Carb install questions.

Learning and doing is what makes this hobby fun, interesting and rewarding. I'm always looking for the next project to do on my car. It gets boring just driving.

You can always drill a hole in your air cleaner base to run a hose to.

    ELEC. FUEL PUMP NOISE

Putting rubber washers between the pump and frame helped quiet mine some. Not quiet enough for my autistic grandson so I'm going to add a cam snout extension and go back to a mechanical pump this winter.

Little story about some good carb karma

That's what I call service!! I watched your video and the next video up was a 10 minute live version of Stairway To Heaven so I got a little sidetracked, lol.

    Edelbrock 1407 issue

One easy adjustment you can try is moving the accelerater pump to the hole closest to the carb body. That gives a richer pump quicker. Worked for me in the past when I had an off idle stumble.

    Edelbrock 1406 on 318 jetting

The 1406 is designed from the factory for more fuel economy whereas the 1405 is designed for more performance.

    Sending unit issue

There is a unit called MeterMatch. I haven't used one myself but other members report they work well. MeterMatch Fuel Gauge Interface Module This is a cheaper alternative to it. Another gauge corrector--cheaper than MeterMatch, 33.00

    Sending unit issue

If you still have your original sending unit you could send it out for a rebuild. There used to be some places that could rebuild, not sure if any are still doing it.

    Electric fuel pump mounting?

Funny thing. After I saw this thread it got me thinking my pump was really loud. I looked at it today and sure enough...I hadn't put the rubber washers on it when I put it about 8 months ago. Couldn't find the washers so I cut some leftover rubber hose, first to length, then split it open...

    Electric fuel pump mounting?

I agree. Bolts, lock washers and nuts. Or, just a lock nut. I mounted my Holley black pump on the frame just in front of the wheelwell. The frame has holes in the bottom to stick your finger in to start the washer and nut. I use grease to hold the washer and nut on my finger tip to get the...

What Fuel setup are you running

Agree. I used a 70(ish) timing cover so I would have mechanical fuel pump option. But, I kept the v-belt set up so it's a little tricky setting timing with the timing marks on the drivers side behind the power steering pump. Possible, but like everything else on an a-body, it's tight, lol.

What Fuel setup are you running

Thanks. I sent my Magnum core to Ken for a regrind. The engine runs great, but I would also like to get away from an electric pump. I may give the adapter a try next time I have to get into the front.

    1973 340 Duster Carb question

Nice car!! Have fun with it. It should run stop light to stop light very well. Once you get the Holley on it, drive it for awhile before deciding to change the R&P. You may end up liking the 4.xx. Love the paint!!

    Fuel Line Rerouting

Probably not a couple of minutes. Silly question but start simple. Are you sure there is fuel in the tank? Ask me how I know :) You could also disconnect the line at the carburetor and put it in a container. Then have someone crank the engine to see if the fuel pump is pumping. If you...
