    MANUAL STEERING FOR DAILY DRIVER

For easy driving, I'd agree. For rapid turns like slalom, autocross or curvy roads at above legal speeds, I'd sure want a faster ratio.

    MANUAL STEERING FOR DAILY DRIVER

Well.....if the ratio is the super high 24 to 1, sure....any pipsqueak like Pee Wee Herman can steer the car. The 20 to 1 or the super quick 16 to 1 is another matter. A couple of months ago I drove a FABO members 68 Dart with manual steering. Now, I'm used to quick ratio power in my own cars. I...

    Early A-body steering modification

Look at the last one. That is a fast ratio. The other three are standard.

How far should i go with swapping stuff out in the front end?

I have a few nuggets for you. First off, a manual front disc/rear drum A body can be a really impressive thing. I own 3 of them. They stop better than my '70 Charger with power 4 wheel discs. Pedal effort is great. The fronts skid before the rear like they are supposed to do. What helps is that...

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

I sold three over the last 10 years, the last one was 3-4 years ago. I got $125 for a nice one. Not everyone that sells parts is a greedy prick. Some just want to make a little money and move onto the next thing.

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

Hey...I've seen idiots heat coil springs to lower cars that had them. I once heated the front edge of the leaf springs in my Camaro to lower it....and one snapped a few months later. Anyone with an understanding of metal should know what is safe and what isn't. I'm not against pushing the...

People also use chicken wire and newspaper as backing for inch thick Bondo too.

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

Rick Ehrenberg once stated that the factory defaulted to the V8 version at some point. I don't recall if it was for production cars or replacements through the Parts Division. Why not? The V8 Center Link fits everything, the slant six version only fits slant six.

Center drag link, are they really $600? 1964 dart

NO, Do NOT do this. Never take a torch to a steering component. They can be bent in a press at room temperature but never introduce heat to forged steel steering components. Christ...the bad ideas keep on coming. Don't do this either. People have been kind here but here is the fact. The...

    273 Commando - UTG

I do too. I looked at the big shop he was in and this new one. Hardly any tools, hardly any parts. I'm a retired Carpenter that works on cars as a hobby and I have 3 times the tools and parts in my shop. He comes across as a guy that wants to look like a car guy. I didn't see a MIG welder, no...

    273 Commando - UTG

That guy.... Does anyone ever remember reading his magazine articles? The dude went off on rants that were totally unrelated to the car that was being featured. Paragraph after paragraph of this guy ignoring the car and instead blabbing about everything else. He is like that neighbor that has a...

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

You could get the 8 3/4 in later models if you had the HD towing option group. It also came with a bigger radiator, fan shroud and in some cases, front disc brakes.

I agree. Look at the crappy stack up of pieces just to mount it to the axle housing....then to the right, the thin and flimsy manner or mounting it to the frame rails.

    1965 Valiant LS Build

It still makes me make faces like these: Again, if we had no other way to power our cars and IF the only way to keep a beautiful classic mobile, I'd have to agree.... Otherwise, forget it.

    1965 Valiant LS Build

In this case, I find that whole idea pathetic. A dead silent engine doing a burnout? The ONLY time I could see any electric conversion as having any possible appeal is if OIL or any type of liquid fuel were to be completely unavailable. No sound? No rumble? No gears to shift? You might as...

    1965 Valiant LS Build

There are a lot of POLITE members here. In my opinion, the owner has the right to do whatever he wants. I'm still stuck on the mindset that THIS ISN'T CUBA. Doing stuff like this is completely UNNecessary in a country like this where the factory family parts are easy to find. Doing stuff "to be...

Rear sway bar for 1964 plymouth valiant

There are variables to consider. On the surface, I'd advise against the larger bar based on the assumption that all else being equal with both rear bars aside from the diameter, the larger bar will likely induce a strong OVERsteer condition. Great for drifting, terrible for regular street...

    Rear frame rail fitment

My information is that all frame rails are physically similar, front and rear. The front rails are 1 3/4" further apart from 1967-76. The rear rails from 63-67 will have a notch for the gas tank strap. 1968 and later cars used the fore/aft dual straps for the gas tank.

The sellability of our early “A” body cars

I don't understand this gibberish. ^^^ Early A body styling often seems to be a love it or hate it thing, at least from what I have seen. The 60-62 Valiants and Lancers were really weird. The 63-66 cars look better but in my opinion, the A body line really took off in 1967. Some guys like...

73 slant Duster- small bolt pattern wheels??

4 wheel 9" drums were standard. Discs were optional. ALL disc-drum 73-76 A body cars had the larger bolt pattern. ALL 4 wheel drum 73-76 A bodies were small bolt pattern.

    1965 Dodge Dart taillights.

I'm guessing that this is a question...? The housings are angled to match the angle of the mounting surface of the quarter panel and trunklid. Short answer....No. If the mounting holes even lined up, the lens would angle the wrong way.

    Dome Lamp Wire Routing

I used some aerosol 3M adhesive. I did the headliner installation myself and had a thread here about it. It had wrinkles in it for awhile but they flattened out for the most part after the Summer came and went. I sold the car to a guy that sold it soon thereafter so I don't have any way to...
