    Cold Case

I put Cold Case to the test over the last two summers: Three years ago I bought a Cold Case radiator for my 1970 Dart GT through Ken. The last two summers, I put it to the test - a 2 part 13,500 mile roadtrip. I live in Western Washington State and starting in June of 2023 we hopped on the...

    Cold Case

That would be a real shame. I put my Cold Case radiator to the test over the last 2 months on a 5200 mile road trip that included Rt 66 across Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California. Temp never went over 195, EVER, even rolling into Needles CA at 113 degrees, and the slow...

67 318 running temps in the summer

I'm curious - 1967 318 LA? I thought they were still using up the last of the 318 polys in 67 and the LA 318 didn't appear until 68?

    Thermostat gasket leaking AGAIN!!!!

So I'm late to this party, but here goes. At some point Chrysler switch from cast iron to aluminum thermostat housings. The aluminum ones are terrible for warping and no manner of sanding will fix that. I have found that if you get a replacement housing from NAPA (Dorman 902-3012) it has been...

    Classic Auto Air update 3/28/2024

So over the winter I completely reworked the pulleys and belts for my "Perfect Fit Kit" from Classic Auto Air. The kit as provided would not accommodate twin belts for the compressor and the alternator - even though the three pulleys had dual grooves for that use, they were 1 groove off so you...

    Classic Auto Air update 3/28/2024

Can you please supply some pictures? Classic offers some alternatives as far as belt/pulley arrangements. I had trouble with mine and would like to see what yours looks like as a comparison.

Fan clutch replacement guidance and recommendations

get yourself an infrared heat sensing gun (I got a cheap one at Harbor Freight that works just fine). You can check the temp at the thermostat housing by the temp gauge sensor at start up through fully warmed up and you can figure out actual temps at various gauge readings. It might be that...

    Thermostat and housing

For earlier intakes you can buy a replacement housing (straight up style) from NAPA and it comes in cast iron instead of aluminum which is much less prone to warping.

    looking for KKS radiator reviews

I am the OP for this thread. I got a Cold Case Radiator for my most recent build because they were proactive enough to pm me when I started this thread and make an argument for the quality of their products and their willingness to stand behind them. Since I was building a car for long distance...

Pls recommend source for full AC system for non-AC 1971 5.2 L Duster

I would use Classic Air again, but beware - they market this like it is all scienced out and all the problems are solved. This is absolutely not true - a "perfect fit kit" it is not. If you are reasonably skilled hot rodder who can do some light fabrication you can install the kit and address...

    Thermostat Gasket

I have great luck with Real Gasket thermostat gaskets... The valve cover gaskets, not so much. I also found that thermostat housings (Dorman?) from NAPA come in Cast iron instead of aluminum much less likely to warp and a brand new machined surface - worth the cost.

    Clutch fan installation question

Having done this a few times, getting the clutch to water pump bolts started was a struggle! But the resulting spacing once installed was perfect. Don't forget the brass sleeve that centers the water pump nub in the clutch hole.

    Classic Auto Air update 3/28/2024

Yep, been there, done that. I ended turning my cabin side bracket right to left 180 degrees and adding another 90 degree piece, that way I could drill holes through the glove box... I'd love it if we could get a couple of their tech guys to travel around and look at what folks have done to...

    Classic Auto Air update 3/28/2024

you can look at my thread elsewhere here, But I ended changing the crank pulley and moving my whole PS pump and, AND the whole alternator and brackets 1/2 forward and finding a factory water pump pulley to move that groove 1/2 inch forward so that I could line everything up and use 2 belts on...

Welcome to the wild world of Classic Auto Air!!!! I just hope that a few years down the line (of trouble free cool air) we will both be able to think this was a good investment overall.

    A little progress today.

Please let us know how the belt set up works once it's running!!! I have the one that runs the alternator and compressor on a single belt. Squealed like hell. Finally got it so that I could use a double belt on the alternator and compressor like the factory set up and it cured the problem, but...

    AC Came Today

I think you might be avoiding the headaches that a bunch of us had with the set up that they offer that has AC, Alt and crank on one belt (uses factory AC crank pulley). Not enough belt wrap on the AC pulley and boy does that squeal!!! I fixed it to use 2 belts but boy was it a hassle.

    AC system update

I would suggest that you look at what shows up first. The kit that I got for my 70 Dart has you reconfigure the stock sliders so that they actuate potentiometers (sp?) that are then on the control mechanism, this goes by wire to and electronic control box. I mounted mine in a modified factory...

    AC system update

If you find a way to successfully route the hose to the vent to the left of the driver let us know. Several of us have been trying to figure this out for a couple years. Above the column there are issues with the moving parts of the wiper system. Did you buy the system that provides a crank...

    Would you paint aluminum radiator?

been using aluminum radiators in front of my small blocks for over 10 years. Always painted the fins and what ever else shows through the grille black. Always had them cool better than the 3 core AC/340 stock radiators. Never had a cooling issue with them even with trans coolers and AC...

    Idler pulley under the compressor?
  28. str12-340

    Small block idler pulley

for 1970 small blocks there are an entirely different set of pulleys and belt pairings for AC cars and non-AC cars. In that system the AC and alternator run on a double belt. Did you car actually come with AC and no power steering - I don't think I have ever seen one like that before.
