    Towing comparisons

I wonder if I should be using exhaust brake when I tow. I have a 2022 Mega cab 2500 Diesel that gets about 12 mpg towing my 11,000 lb. trailer. It's pretty flat around here and mostly interstate miles. I don't know anything about exhaust braking, other than the one time I tried it I was driving...

High Speed vibration, can't find what's causing it.

Ok I've learned my lesson. I'm due for new slicks at the end of the season and from now on they get balanced!

I'll consider that if the tire balance doesn't work.

High Speed vibration, can't find what's causing it.

Had the slicks balanced this morning. One of them took 18 ounces of weight to balance! The other took six. I am going into the weekend fairly confident that the vibration will go away. Will report after I make some passes Friday.

    Bigger torsion bar?

Have you tried raising your ride height a little? Might slow your front end a little.

High Speed vibration, can't find what's causing it.

Not misfiring. The symptom is not rpm related it is mph related. Only happens after 90 mph and stops as soon as I get out of the throttle.

Thanks but I would have to back off the throttle to shift from 3rd all the way to neutral, and simply backing off the throttle causes the vibration to stop so there would be no need to shift to neutral at that point.

I have a tire sponsor who is going to put them on his machine for me.

calvert split monoleafs. 1 year old. I would think axle windup would be worse with more torque in 1st and 2nd gear. I think it is mph related.

I'll ask the tire shop if they do that.

Before the next race I'm going to have the slicks spin balanced.

Hopefully 2025 race season will be less painful

You'll wonder why you didn't get it done years ago. This will add many years to your wheel time racing and overall improvement in life will be great! Best wishes to you!

No changes there, including pinion angle. Didn't even change shock settings.

Pretty sure with a failed sprag you wouldn't make it down the track, plus sprag should reveal itself in 1st gear.

High Speed vibration, can't find what's causing it.

In the last month or so I started to notice the race car vibrating when I get above about 90 mph on a pass. Does it only while the car is still accelerating. When I let off it goes away. It crosses the finish line 107-108 mph No vibration during burnout or until 3rd gear (727) So far I have...

My fault. I posted this in Suspension as well and listed all of those particulars in that post. I forgot to do it in this post.

Yes, it looks that way. I would like to have the adjustability, but not at the cost of giving up my Wilwood brakes.

    Upper control arm advice

67-72 A Body, with late disc spindles. In other words, the big ball joint. Spoke to Peter at Bergman just now. they are big ball joint UCA's, but QA1 does make a UCA for the small ball joint. Not as adjustable but it already comes with positive caster so should be able to get the readings I...

SPC does not have them for A Body. Bergman does not have them for A Body before 1973

    Upper control arm advice

Nope. For the 73 and newer a body. I called them. They want me to buy their ucas then spend another thousand to swap to b or e body brakes/spindles.

Looking for adjustable UCA that uses the small ball joint 1970 Duster

Looks like years of wheels up launches have taken their toll on the front end of my duster. Alignment shop can get it close, but it won't go to positive caster or correct camber any more. I'm looking for adjustable UCA's for this car, but everything out there seems to be for 1973 and newer...

Looking for A Body adjustable upper control arms for small ball joint (1970)

Trying to find a manufacturer that makes Adjustable UCA for 1970 Duster. Everything I've seen is for '73 and later and uses the big ball joint.
