[Found!] 67 Barracuda Rear Seat Internal Parts

Just drill a hole in the metal plate and use an extension spring from the hardware store. It works great and is on the inside where nobody can see it anyway. Your rod is probably bent because your mechanism is binding up. Solve that problem and then straighten out the rod and you will be fine...

    360LA Clutch Fan

I don’t remember the specifics, as it had been awhile. I think I bought bolts and cut them off so they stuck out of the water pump about a 1/4 inch on the back and the fan clutch about 1/8 of an inch past the nut. Locktite them into the water pump with red locktite.

    Strange Headlight problem

I think the crackedback headlight harness is a great idea, but you may want to find your problem first before changing a bunch of stuff. That usually just makes trouble shooting harder.

    Strange Headlight problem

If you unplug the dimmer foot switch, doesn’t that disconnect power to both the high and the low beam headlights?

    Strange Headlight problem

A lot of weird things can happen when you lose a ground. Sounds like the power to your headlights is finding a ground through the high beam indicator light. I would check the grounds on your headlights.

What year did the bypass hose size change?

The pulleys are much different between the cast and aluminum water pump too. So is power steering pump. The newer aluminum water pumps (70 up) are also about 3/4 inch longer than the cast pumps. This can cause radiator clearance issues. I swapped from the old water pump to the 70 up pump. Lots...

    Carpet opinion please

Shop for the lowest price plus shipping. I have bought from Rock Auto and Stock Interiors. Pretty much everyone sells the same ACC carpet. I like the oem style loop carpet. I think the mass backing option is worth it. Buy a Dynamat clone off Amazon and put it on every surface you can. You...

67 Barracuda Factory Air - Worth Fixing Up?

I put a factory ac in my 69 barracuda and I like it. I use R134 and it will freeze you out. 1. Do you still have factory air that works in 67-69 Barracudas? Mine works good, but I have a new expansion valve, condenser, dryer and fan. 2. Are there replacement parts for under the dash available...

The spring breaks on these with some frequency. You can replace it with an extension spring.

Hello from Aurora, IL! Bought a Duster with an ignition issue

How big is the added fuse for the ignition? Could it be to small? The reason I was asking about the regular car fuses is that the ignition power feeds some of them. The radio and heater fan and turn signals are supplied by fuses, so I would think that those fuses would blow if the short was...

Hello from Aurora, IL! Bought a Duster with an ignition issue

If it is popping fuses routinely, then start unhooking things until the fuse stops blowing. The melted ignition module is a good place to start. I also would try the coil and the voltage regulator. Are any of the fuses in the fuse box blowing? Are there other electrical modifications to the car?

No power to ignition or dash

The two big wires that go through the bulkhead connector are the feed and return for the amp meter. The dash can be powered up by either one, since they are effectively tied together at the amp meter. It sounds like the fusible link was abandoned and the dash is getting its power through the...

No power to ignition or dash

Does the alternator current still pass through the bulkhead connector and amp meter, or did you do a bypass?

No power to ignition or dash

Have you upgraded wiring for the bigger alternator? I don’t think the stock wiring will handle that big of an alternator. It is likely that the bulkhead connector is compromised if you are passing that much current through it. Most of these cars came with about 35 amp alternators. There are...

    Two Light Questions

The ground on the headlight switch only will affect the dome light. May not be necessary if the headlight switch grounds to the frame, but doesn’t hurt to hook it up to ground. Could be a bad led bulb for glove box. You could get another bulb, but Do you really need a led in the glove box?

Fan clutch replacement guidance and recommendations

The hose collapsing probably means that it is not able to stand the pull of the water pump. That was the purpose of the spring inside hoses on some models. I suppose that it could also be an indication of blockage in the radiator, but I would think that would show up at idle as well. Just a...

    rebuilding an alt

Not really true. Diodes, like most electronic components are degraded by heat, corrosion, thermal cycling, mechanical stress and applied voltage. They are very reliable compared to moving parts, but still can “wear out” after years of use.

If it is not brushes or the diode block, the rest of a rebuild is probably more trouble than it is worth.
