The 413 had 8.5.1 compression with 452 heads and it ran 12.85 so it's not that bad.

I've got a set of them, but they need to be redone. Then either drilled, or buy a new manifold. As well as new pushrods, springs, and whatnot. Thought about it, but not for this motor.

I ran that cam in a .030" over 360 and my 413 straight up and it worked really well.

Guessing I was being a little girl - went out there & looked a lot closer with light under the hood while closing & doing the tin foil crush thing - hood latches without touching . Was afraid of bending the hood. Had to let you all know.

I'm far from an expert but I find that's generally caused by too high of an idle or timing too far advanced.

The carb doesn't appear to have adjustable air bleeds, and the power valve in it looks like a 56 or 65 depending on how you read the numbers. The 65 power valve is the replacement in the kit. Would i be better off with a different carb??

When you advance the cam, you close the intake earlier, meaning the volume in the cylinder is greater creating more cranking compression/pressure in the cylinder vs a straight up 109 centerline. We did this all the time with the 480-484-508 hyd purple cams, cut on a 108, install at 100, makes a...

You can never go wrong with bumping your compression ratio up a bit, but you have to check it by cc the combustion chamber and piston face at TDC to know what it really is.

Are we talking about cork, cork compostion, rubber, or rubber with steel insert?

Don’t use the cardboard for storage. I use the cardboard for specific jobs so when you take something apart I know where which bolts go. Especially good if job takes my than 1 day. Because I suffer from CRS, Can’t remember ****.

I had good luck with the Fel-Pro gaskets that came in the engine overhaul set. I used silicone to attach them to the valve covers.

Front disc’s first. You’ll have plenty to do right there. I would look into electric power steering, thats what all new cars have, get more room for headers and such. Why air shocks? That’s so 60’s. You will hate the ride quality. New re-arched leaf springs is the way I would go if I wanted...

That's an aux jack. Looks like someone did a nice job wiring it. If your radio works and its wired correctly you should be able to plug an MP3 player, CD player etc., into it.

I get the process of physically changing the relation between the cam and crank, but I've never really understood the reasoning behind it. Advancing the cam introduces the air/fuel and dumps the spent gasses earlier (correct?), but what are the effects? I've seen it mentioned enough to guess...
