Last one to post in this thread wins!

Hey guys. Has been a gorgeous day and decided to stay home tonight. Just been one of those days and didn't feel like doing anything. Did have a nice walk this afternoon though. Enjoy your evening.

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

i mean, think about what they came in: trucks (mostly) and what gets abused more than work trucks? more likely to neglect OCI and maintenance? (*coughs* besides rental equipment *coughs*) the "flaking" of cam bearings has also been (loosely) linked to the acid/acid by products in modern motor...

how to tell if the distributor drive gear is installed correctly?

So what he is saying is that on some Distributors the Rotor may not point straight ahead like it is "supposed to." The illustration in post #5 is where the Drive Gear should point. The Rotor should point straight ahead toward the front of the car. The Distributor is technically not correct if it...

The Silly Things Guys Say Thread

All the sillyness kinda takes away from real crap ya seen. A guy a knew David L. Bought a brand new Honda CBX told me it would do a full front wheel pull from 65_70MPH roll. So we got in my Challlenger got along side him. He got down on it and sure enough that 6 cylinder Super Bike pulled the...

    Introducing Project "Scabra Tulitque"

Update: While I was replacing the positive battery cable (mentioned above) I cleaned and photographed a partial casting number on the cylinder block in order to verify the installed engine was truly a 273 (not a 318). The number for 1964-66 is listed as 2465330 which would correspond to my 2465...

The Silly Things Guys Say Thread

Yep hear the $100 on the dash story as well. I was also in a buddies Monza when he forgot to put hood pins in, when racing, yep buckled right back into windshield. He asked me to keep it a secret lol, totally embarrassed.

    Introducing Project "Scabra Tulitque"

Update: Replaced the postive battery cable with what appears to be an exact reproduction from M&H Electric Fabrictors, Inc. (part #35225). As you can see in the photo, the original cable battery end terminal had been cut and replaced so many times in the past that it was a real stretch to make...

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

Of all the engines that I have torn down to rebuild, very few had cam bearings worn much. The ones above didn't wear, they rotted from contamination. Bearings don't flake and chip apart from wear.

how to tell if the distributor drive gear is installed correctly?

They'll figure it out. We had to figure it out with NO internet and nothing BUT the service manual and MP manuals and such. We actually had to DIG for it, instead of having it spoon fed.

how to tell if the distributor drive gear is installed correctly?

This is ONLY and IF the rotor and the drive tang are in line. 99% of the time they are not. Telling people to use the FSM and not telling them that it almost never works is not good. I’m betting I have 30-40 distributors laying around and not one of them has the rotor lined up with the drive...
