That’s above my knowledge base. I do know that this new distributor is very friendly towards setting up a good curve. I do have another option for another guy to take a stab at setting it up. What’s your opinion on the converter?

...and he was worried that with that much timing the motor could destroy a bearing. so he set it up with only using the mechanical advance with 14*’initial and 36* total. The car runs great and is very well behaved with no stumbles, however the car used to be able to torch the tires from a...

    A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

Seems like he really doesn’t have a use for it and wants to sell it. On the other hand, mine took eight years and I’m still doing little things to it so I would never sell.

Chrome bumpers swapped in for the originals we had to paint when the car was being resto-modded due to bad pitting and a minuscule budget. Next up is modifying the Jegs 2-1/2 dual exhaust kit we used to now have an H pipe.

A couple things. I have softened my stance on the H pipe, and I will be putting one on the car within the next month or so. I also had a set of beautiful bumpers chromed at Tri-City plating. They are absolutely gorgeous. Every time I walk out to the garage and look at the car, I get a little...

TF I have Flowmaster Delta flows on her now and I’m getting tired of the racket. Looking for something more subdued. And I need to get some 275s on the back of the car. Looking from the back the car needs some more meat.

    Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

The rear is original to the car, only the diff itself was upgraded to a suregrip with 355 gear. As you can see in the pictures with the 245 tires, I’d need a wheel with a 3” backspace to fit a 275 tire. That would fill out the wheel well better as well

    Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

245s on a 7” rim with 4.25 backspace leaves 1/4 clearance on the spring.

    Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

I’m going to avoid spacers. Im Thinking with the chrome bumpers I’ll get some cragar super sports. They come in all sorts of different backspaces
  24. DusterDaddy

    Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

The wheels I have now are 4.25 backspace and if I put a 275 on those wheels, the tire hits the leaf spring. So my thinking is if the back space is reduced by 1 inch the wheels will move further away from the center of the car and push the tire out from the center and give me clearance on the...

    Father-Son 1974 Duster Project

Well my chrome bumpers are on the from TriCity Plating. I’m not sure if I’ll be happy with the upgrade. The car has had painted bumpers since I resto-modded it but we will see. Next projects I’d like to do are finding some wheels with 3.5 backspace so I can get a 275 on the back without...
