Funny, Harley Davidson gauges, being that they were exposed to the elements of all types fogged up and many questions were lodged across my counter about it. Harley's reply stated that there were holes that allowed air to enter and defog over a given time.

Just an FYI they are all damaged at the rear . They are squashed so the rear window fits at the back. You won't find any that are not damaged as you think ., Just looked through over 30 for a build here and not one wasn't squashed at the rear.

This is the only picture of the truck I could dig up when I had it 4 years ago. It is not mine anymore but the guy I sold it to drives it to work once in a while.

The gaskets above and below the spacer are quite substantial, Almost like something you'd see on a fibrous exhaust manifold gasket with metal impregnated. Probably asbestos so that's why I opted to stay away from scraping it clean to re-use.

Normally small cube V8s respond better to a good performance single exhaust. The 273 Commando engines had a sound like no other.

Yeah. My understanding is the 71 TQ was the best for all out power, but they kinda had trouble on the street. But I've never had one or worked on one.

I like tie performance single exhaust. It's simple, fits well, and sounds and works good. I have heard that it performs as well as the dual set up.

No, it was the good, ...100 casting number, I still have it and the TQ. That combo was too good to let go.

Hello everyone I’m trying to decide if I put back single exhaust or dual for my 1967 273 . I’m restoring the car and I’m not sure if I will gain more performance I know the looks is much better with dual exhaust. I call few companies for dual exhaust and it seems tight for 67 to do. Any trick...

The only reason I was thinking was maybe if they used some left over 70 intakes on the early 71 and used an adapter plate for the TQ. Evidently, that was not it.

They get a completely bare casting from overseas. The casting quality is extremely nice

Only guessing, space it up for correct choke operation or an attempt to insulate carb from intake heat? I remember pitching the cluge and just running the thick gasket. I did a lot of stupid stuff back then.
