    340 External Balance Run Stand

If he was buying a crank then internal is the way to go. I'd never buy a crank that was external balance. That's just me.

Honestly I don’t enjoy driving it that much. It’s 40-60 miles to town and the nearest shows. To get there in a reasonable amount of time half is 75 MPH roads. That is NOT gonna happen, these were made to putt around town fixing gas meters. 55 MPH is all I want to go in it. I’ll take my cars...

    340 External Balance Run Stand

I got off the rails. If all you are doing is breaking in the cam and looking for leaks on a run stand, just find any flywheel and use it. Doesn't matter if its internal or external. It won't hurt anything for what you are doing. Using that flywheel in the car is bad, but you have an automatic...

My friend Maddie bought a first generation Cummins two door dually auto trans with od. Grey. That truck is still on the road looks new with over 500k miles on it. I pulled her 5th wheel with it one time when it was new. Not really impressed but dang it has lasted a long time

    340 External Balance Run Stand

I probably would have by either balancing it internally or another crank. Just personal preference.

Need advice on my Holley DP 650

I can’t remember, been a while since I played with a Holley, but it might have a small wire clip that attaches to the float arm. It “should” pull the needle out of the seat. The clip might be off. I would want to look at it, if there is something off with the needle and seat it can go the other...

Chris, funny story. Yrs ago my son had a Ply Reliant wagon. He took an old Power Wagon emblem off a 60’s truck and put it on the back of the wagon in reverse- Wagon. power. An older gentleman told him he hadn’t ever heard of that model

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

Looks like she's gonna end up at about 9.2:1 cr, 1.88" 596 heads, 600 AFB, and at least a Performer intake, if not one a bit better. Consensus seems to be 105° (4° adv), so that's where it's going. I've always considered this a spare motor, while others get built. It may find it's way into...

    340 External Balance Run Stand

It doesn't matter. What you have is fine. I wouldn't have converted your crank to internal balance either. It is very cost ineffective for what you are doing. If you did want to do that (keeping in mind external balancing is not my favorite thing) you'd need to get a new damper. You can buy a...

    Hood scoop to big?

Yes that’s what I was getting at. So it won’t take away a measurable difference in seat. I will try to find instructions on the hood. I am putting in hood pins. Thanks everyone. I think I will remove the 1” spacer it’s pretty close if not up against hood now when fully shut. There is a witness...

Need advice on my Holley DP 650

Lightly tap the adjuster. See if the needle is stuck, but it is no big deal to get in there. Get a set of new gaskets, the re-useable ones. I used to just pull the carb off and turn it upside down over a tray. Easier to play with it on the bench.

    Rotor Cap Play normal?

Well with one clocking tab on the cap and two slots on the dizzy it does fit when reversed but with only one tab it’s not great still has some play after lock down. Better but not great. I couldn’t reference this cap and I am thinking it’s not correct since MSD doesn’t seem to sell one for the...
