"Idiot light" vs. Oil Pressure Gauge

I like the idea of mounting it under the hood, I was actually thinking about mounting gauges under the hood. It would be nice to have a voltmeter, water temp gauge and oil pressure gauge in there.

    Cam Phasing

Yup. 100% true. If anyone is familiar with a Milodon or similar gear drive there is no keyway to time the cam. I bought an ignition for a dirt bike I had. The rotor didn’t have a key slot in it. The factories use stuff like that so they can slam that **** together.

I've used the keys a ton, too and never had one fail or seen one fail. Ever. I agree too that they are not meant to carry load. I'd be surprised if the load on them was even measureable.

True, but that A-body w/a cammed magnum like that should be knocking down low 12's w/o breaking a sweat, unless you're spinning your wheels or the tune sucks...

can you give it a light once over with some steel wool to dull it up a bit. give it that brushed s/s look. it will reduce the glare and if your not happy with the outcome, then you have a solid excuse to remove it

They work fine. It’s all we had before these 9 keyway sets that confuse most people. I’ve used them with roller cams and shifted that engine at 8k for two years. It never failed.

"Idiot light" vs. Oil Pressure Gauge

I had just the oil light on Vixen for the longest time. I got curious just what kind of oil pressure she had, so I plumbed in a manual gauge and mounted it under the hood. She idles on the relief valve cold at about 75PSI. Hot she idles about 50 and as soon as the throttle is blipped, you can...

Kitty and I and all the kitties made it fine. The storm was on track for us to be on the dirty side, but it tracked to the east of us instead, thanks be to God. We never even lost power. We did lose internet, but we watched Clint Eastwood DVDs all night. lol

Plus, I ordered a fiberglass dash that weighs just 4 pounds, and I’ve got all the vintage contingency stickers I could ever need lined up. I’m also drawing heavy inspiration for the paint job from these Pro Stocks, so it’s going to look amazing once the new paint and lettering are done."

1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp - Restoration is a strong word

This is not the update I was hoping to make... I didn't pass my inspection, but I didn't fail it either. There were two super nice officers who explained right as they started they were skeptical they'd be able to complete the inspection. They said they needed to match "secret numbers from the...

How long will cheap oil transfer pump survive pumping water?

Folks'll get a kick out you stopping, kid or? dunking bucket into trailer tank, running up and pouring in rad. Leave the cap off, no pressure, less coolant loss, maybe just perch an old funnel in top, pour water in rad. Probably be a big hit, Sounds like fun, Good luck. (Marine pump is...

    340 or 408?

Trust me I definitely understand the general sentiment. But if you're looking at what you would actually feel by the butt dyno, The larger displacement area under the curve difference is huge. In fact I would go so far as to say that even properly geared stalled etc the bigger engine is going...

    Another boat question

Fixed...for now. Replaced a couple -ve wire ring terminal ends at battery... The starter and solenoid both seemed to work fine when removed, so if getting proper power, it should work. I figured a terminal replacement may help. I noticed one wire has a decent amount of black junk, so a wire...

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, I did a thing! But seriously, I pulled the dash out tonight. Now I’ve got to decide whether to go with fiberglass or stick with steel. On top of that, I got the new cups fitted to the upper control arms. The car's also scheduled for the chassis shop, so I’ve got...
