    automatic overdrive

1..So far as I know, it's 904 based AKA 42RH series 2..GM 200R4 or 2004R whatever they are---genuine 4 speed, not OD, but hard to find and a bit weak 3...Gear vendors aftermarket, "not sure" if you have to cut the floor The Mopar OD you must extensively rework the rear cross...

    Overdrive transmission

...rob as much HP, and I'm guessing less cutting? But I have no problem going for the beef of the 518 or the 46 and honestly wouldn't mind going 2004R if that's the right fit. money isn't necessarily a concern, but I'm not looking to break the bank or anything. the car does get driven in a...

    Overdrive transmission

Here's what I had to cut on the crossmember to fit the 200-4R in my '73 Sport. That and buying the adapter kit was the only big issue with going with this trans. No cutting on the tunnel is required.

    Easy (?) OD Auto Install

The 2004r and the A999 have the same first gear...2.74 if I remember correctly. But the 2004R has .67:1 overdrive!!

    Overdrive transmission

G3 Hemi uses the same bellhousing as a LA/5.2-5.9 Magnum.... So the RH42.A500 is perfect... And since it has a deeper 1st gear it's accelerate quicker & highway cruising will be around 1700 rpm... Assuming a 28" tall tire & 3.23 axle..

Overdrive or don't worry about it? !

Pro's and con's Gear Vendors can be a PITA to install. ...floor pan fitment etc, but I keep my 727. 2004R is an all in one and no throttle pressure linkage to mess with, but no idea about how much is involved in the install and what about my stock shifter I love so much? Jeff

How do we blend race car and comfort?

lock up converter and OD tranny allows more gear and converter. Yep! Nice car!

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

A 2004r onto the slant six would probably be the ideal mixture of driveability and originality but I do like that ax-15 idea.

    Throttle valve adjustment

I've rebuilt the 2004R and installed upgrades and shift kits. Others already posted how to set it initially, so there was no purpose for me to repeat their input. Personally, I resent any discussion of a non-mopar transmission on this site anyway. Next they'll be talking about 327's in the...

Nice! Precision of New Hampton are good converters. Not too far away from me.

    automatic overdrive

The Stage 2, GM 2004R with from Extreme Automatics with a bolt on Reid Bellhousing is the best transmission I've ever driven. If you run a lock-up converter, it's the closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going. I run a Precision of New Hampton 3800 rpm stall, lock-up converter in mine with 4.30...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

Wilcap will make you an adapter for the GM 2004r transmission. They have the program as there was a group buy a while back. They may have some left over.

...50 lbs of each other. Here's what is in the car that makes it so heavy. Aluminum headed 408 Magnum with full 3" TTi exhaust, vintage air A/C, 2004R trans with bolt on bellhousing and 3600 rpm lock-up converter, 4" Mark Williams 1350 driveshaft, Dr Diff built 8 3/4" with his Econo Disc kit...

Hey man thanks for responding. She's selling three cars all of which belonged to her boyfriend I believe there's a 66 charger this cuda and something else. Anyway she doesn't know anything about the car but it is a two-owner and I believe that's a 318 v8? Not sure

How do we blend race car and comfort?

The primary problem I found with today's cars is the same problem so many years go. Get them going out of the hole? My A-body with its small slicks, SS springs and Mosier axled 4.56:1 8 3/4" spooled rear is setup for launch. Race is over in first '60.

    408 Magnum HP Guesses

Cool picture. Where is that at?
  25. jbc426

    408 Magnum HP Guesses

The 2004R has a 2.76 to 1 first gear ratio. That with the 3.91's, the 3800 rpm stall converter, and being able to nearly dead hook on the street when the tires are warm has put more than a few people right in shock.

Overdrive or don't worry about it? !

2004R. I threw the coals to a few of them when I was into the Buick Turbo cars. But you need someone who knows how to make them last and it will cost a bit. TV Cable is no reason to not use the tranny IMO. Just part of the Hotrod life lol.... A guy on the board local to me (supertruck) put one...
