    Fun weekend but still broke something haha

    ...In my demon I actually broke two steering boxes where it bolts to the k-frame. I never knew it til we pulled the engine out for overhaul. When you turned the wheel you could see the steering box pivoting on the two bolts that were still in tact. Needless to say, rack and pinion front end went in.

    ...steering gear can be improved above the like new factory units. This is a power vs. non power discussion. I'd love the power steering option but I don't see an output improvement as far as steering wheel input is concerned. My low mileage unit is pretty tight but it sure aint no rack and pinion.

    I only see QA1 PN52313 listed for 67-72 A-bodies. The installation guide on the QA1 website specifically mentions torsion bars in the instructions.

    The 5.0 in the Mustang II era made a miserable 120 hp or so. It wasn't until the 82 fox body that hp started to creep up, though it was still marginal at 157 hp and still a 2 bbl carb. Ford finally got smart and gave it a 4 bbl in 83, and 175 net hp. From there it only got better.

    Some old shocks from the early 90’s. The sticker on the shocks is still there but so faded I can’t make out what brand it is. Rack and pinion steering. With me in the car it’s 2700 lbs.

    ...They didn't change much, except raise the price about 2 k and a little here and there just to make it theirs. Some of the rumors about Gerst are BS. QA 1 won't do a manual rack and pinion either. I won't say anymore. I like my manual set up and coil over. Yes, it has spool engine mounts.

    You need to be more specific. QA1 makes a tubular K that retains the torsion bars, and they have one that is a coil over/rack and pinion conversion.

    We get a lotta that in roundy-round stock cars, frame weak at the firewall, lotta sideways stress. Appearance isn't as important as strength for us, we'd weld it, plate each side, and a gusset to a solid frame/bar accessible. Makes a great case for rack and pinion .

    Front Suspension Upgrade Recommendations

    Spend $6k, handle no better than with upgraded torsion bars, shocks and control arms for better alignment specs. Coil overs are just springs and shocks, nothing magical, the geometry isn’t some significant improvement. You get a rack and pinion and a much lighter wallet.

The 3 header pipes at back of header clearanced frame rails and everything else fine. They look to be new and never run on a car. No dents...
