Gen lll hemi install in a 67 barracuda

As 408 Swinger said... well written I think it all comes down to how far are you willing to go. There's a plethora of knowledge here and on some of the FB groups. "G3 Hemi Swap" and "G3 Swapped A Body Mopars" are the better FB groups. No matter where you go, there will be alot of advice and...

Anyone use a Power Steering Pressure Reducer?

I have a Saganaw pump from CVF with a stock gearbox and stock steering components (Not rack and pinion). The power steering seems too good. I feel like I am one sneeze from putting it in the ditch. I would like more road feel and a little more effort to steer. I have used pressure reducers on...

    Motor mounts

I am in the process of buying a 1965 barracuda, I will be installing the QA1 tubular k-member and coil over conversion with rack and pinion. My question is on a 67 a body what is the distance from motor mount to motor mount? The reason I ask is I have a 392 with 6 speed I want to install but QA1...

    Ball joint adapters?

Well thanks for the disagree! Of course the Daytona’s and SuperBird’s ran 200+ mph with torsion bars and a regular old worm&ball steering box like 50+ years ago and they could still actually turn corners, but screw me right?

    Barracuda Restomod

The trans mount looks like there wasn't a lot of modification from original but it is hard to tell from the photo. I tried to find the original ad and the pictures so we could take a better look at what they did but could not find it. If I stumble onto it I'll post the pics. The Mustang Forums...

    Ball joint adapters?

I am wanting to run a rack and pinion and also get rid of the torsion bar cross member for added room to tuck things in. I'm eventually headed for top speed runs trying to join the 200mph club so I want everything tucked and will have a belly pan if I can for aero. Thanks everyone

    Rack and pinion

A rack & pinion is better than a recirculating ball. Make sure you have no bump steer if you get a rack and mount it yourself.

    coil spring front

HDK makes a drag pack version ($50 additional) substituting an aluminum upper shock mount and rod ends / aluminum cone spacers versus the poly ends and aluminum spacers. Also available in the rack and pinion / coil over conversion package.

    Krusty is making progress....

I can get rid of that idler for you, and a few other items. BTW, any idea how many holes you would have to drill to save 35lbs? (Psssst, HDK rack / pinion / coil over conversion saves that....off the nose!) ...............and the best part, I know a guy.

'70 Dart 392 Project; what direction?

...module on the back of the SRT8 intake, had to run the MMX block off plate. With the engine this far back, it BARELY clears the power rack and pinion, like 1/8" clearance.... No other interference other than that possible one. I had to machine some OD off the steering shaft though to clear...

    Sox and Martin replica

    Inner tie rod puller

That would work on some applications, like it sounds like yours would. But a majority of rack and pinion setups were on front wheel drive cars where there is no room for regular wrenches or pipe wrenches. There was barely enough room for this style of tool on those.

    Pitman and idler arm issues

Did the pitman arm break at the weld? how about heating and bending a new one? or finding a longer one heating and bending it or a v8 one etc. it sounds like youll be playing around to see what works. What about a retrofit to rack and pinion?

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Yeah.. i'll stick with some elbow grease and $10 in paint :) If i went tubular i would end up going rack and pinion also.. it's a slippery slope... at this point i'm kinda burned out and feeling like selling off.. just need to get back in gear

Finally getting on a job that I had on my winter list. And didn’t get to

I don't see random junk laying around under your car...that's no mess lol. By the looks of it a rack and pinion looks like a pretty easy deal

    Sloppy steering

Nature of the beast if your used to rack and pinion. Have someone e turn the wheel back and forth. You get under with a flashlight and look for movement. When you say replaced both arms do you mean idler and steering?

69 Barracuda front RMS suspension issue

oh you're right, thanks for pointing that out. i'd just considered/assumed that the tierod would be vaugely in the same place. i'll bet you're right on a steering stop. maybe the rack isn't centered? or installed incorrectly? or has the wrong tierods?

The man wants MORE caster. How about this idea?

Alignment geometry is making sure the wheels are pointed the right direction to track straight on a level road. Bump steer is a whole other discussion. It is actually roll steer engineered into the suspension to try to straighten the vehicle as it rolls in a turn. It is less scary for the...

    Jeep 4.0 in 69 Barracuda

I'm guessing that when you say that there’s 4.5 of space between the starter flange and “linkage”, you mean the rear brace for the HDK kit and not the steering linkage?

I have all the rebuild parts. I have an unorthodox suspension. I tried something different. With building the frame myself, I decided to use a Crown Vic k member. Unbolts as 1 unit, 12" rotors, 4 piston calipers, aluminum k frame. Power rack and pinion and coilovers.

It is 100 percent a direct rip off of a mustang. The 4 link is exactly the same. The rear end is basically a "Ford 5 inch". Is almost criminal or comical how much of a rip off it is. But it sure will be fun to drive when it's all done. With the stock 20R it was willing to white smoke the...
