    340 or 408?

There's a stock (4bbl & headers) magnum 360 vs 410 but they added almost 2 points of compression when they stroked it, it gain 29 hp, 305 hp vs 334 hp but obviously a chunk of it's from more cr. There's also a more performance build 360 vs 410 using same parts think it was Edelbrock headed, and...

"Idiot light" vs. Oil Pressure Gauge

I am pretty sure I noticed my oil filter going into bypass mode on cold starts last winter.. the Pressure gauge read 5-7 PSI lower than normal until the oil warmed up a little.. That was on a slant six with 80K. Recent oil pan removal for dipstick soldering, and paint. Valvetrain looked clean...

    Battery cable/mini starter question

Got a 67 Dart with a humble 273 with a Dakota mini starter with the original 67 battery cable hookup. The starter has the cable relocation kit. I’d like to keep it. The problem is the SB cables just barely fit on the starter including having to pull the cable out of it’s firewall bracket. The...

    Misfire

Yes, MDS, lifter still spun free, soft cam or oil starved is the popular diagnosis, the rest of the motor was fine, 110k miles, no sludge buildup. I have it down to the block now,cam and rod bearings look OK mains look not the best. Crank just needs a polish, will replace all the bearings.

    Super Victor port matching

To these heads. (BPE) Intake ports are 2 1/2" tall and a few thousandths wider than standard gasket opening size. Gaskets hung over the roof and floor too much to leave alone. Looking down the runner through the plenum things line up much better now. So (thankfully) this is an older Super...

Which head/combustion chamber is better for performance? Speed master aluminum LA or aftermarket magnum iron head?

An acquaintance of mine had built two big small blocks. His first was a 471(r block, I believe) with some sort of W head on it. It was a street driven (frequently) 71 demon, nine second car as it drove in the gates, cover car for a couple mopar magazines. I beat him once, heads up, with my...

    Misfire

MDS doesn't have ANY bearing on cam failures. I've seen NON MDS lobes fail as well. The only real common denominator is VVT engines. I have seen lifter failures in the 30-08 engines, due to extreme non-maintainance.
