I was hoping to get all the dimensions so I can build a new one instead of having to wait to have one shipped, thanks.

    Gear Ratio Recommendation

...3.23 difference. 3.91 + 3.23 = Holy S#%€£¥€%% Batman! Seriously speaking…… 3.55’s with the MP deep first gear is IMO an excellent set up. But the balance in overdrive….. ehhhhh, IDK about a final drive ratio of 2.45. Unless you’re trying to conserve fuel or travel at 165 MPH...

My Gear Vendors Install Thread - '67 Barracuda Notchback 340/416 Stroker

...shop was able to knock it out for me Monday. That came to $470.00 with tax. so that's something to figure in the cost of adding the overdrive. It's been a long time since I had a driveshaft done. It did need a bigger ring put on it to mate up to the larger 1350 yoke that comes with the Gear...

Ported or manifold vac for overdrive bypass vac switch?

The way most set that up is so it disengages LU-OD or both when the vacuum gets low enough from more throttle. Just a little FYI: OD can only engage once the trans is in 3rd gear since 3rd gear fluid pressure is what engages OD. Also note that if you are driving along in OD and lockup and...

Ported or manifold vac for overdrive bypass vac switch?

OD can’t engage without being in 3rd, as OD gets its engagement fluid through the 3rd gear circuit. So when kickdown drops 3rd it also drops OD.

    Cams for Dummies ??

...and 10 different pumpkins, 3 intakes, 5 carbs, and numerous ignition changes. Then, finally, I broke down and bought/installed an overdrive, at which time, all my troubles were over. What did I learn? I learned, it's all about the combo; and if you got a bad combo, yur gonna have to back up...

    Charger

...expensive to be a daily driver, I've lowered my expectations for what I want in a street car. That thing REALLY could use a Gear Vendors overdrive so I could enjoy it more. Ya, I love it at the strip & car shows but it's thirstier going down the highway than a fish on dry land. Any...

    Cooling Issue - 1964 Dart GT - 273 with automatic and A/C

JDMopar you are correct! Not only does it get as hot as Satan's boiler room here, it's also pretty humid much of the Summer. 'Step outside and take a drink of fresh air' humid. Although the last few days have been abnormally cool for SC in August. Thanks for the recommendation over in...

    [WANTED] slant 6 bell housing

I have a non-overdrive transmission, with a small bearing retainer. I think the transmission is a 1967 model.

I agree, that's an F body 833OD shifter. I have at least two of them.

1971 Swinger 318, conversion to a 6cyl/special motor mounts needed

318 had 300k on it and was getting tired! And yes, I had a decent 6 laying around, and had just acquired an AT that I could rebuild and use. Selling the V8 and AT out of the car supplied enough $$ to cover related switch costs, plus some extra for whatever. Basically I just like the simplicity...

    TTI Exhaust question

...25 years later, and I have no complaints, even with the H cut out of it. And, I have never gotten a ticket for it being too loud. I have overdrive, So 65=2240, and not too loud to cruise with. Even took it on a trip to Shakopee Min Car-Craft show, geared 85=2100. Before I had the od, and with...

    46 re transmission

I’m still hoping to figure this thing out 1997 4x4 5.9 with 46RE transmission Well I have taken the overdrive back off and taken the valve body off. I air tested it and the bands all work and you can hear the clutches engage also I took the valve body apart and all check balls were in place. I...

    Hurst Shifter Id

Any idea what shifter this is from? I looked at the ID article and couldn’t find part #s on it. Guy says this is “from old dodge with 3 speed overdrive.” That’s all I got. Thanks!

    Blueprint crate engine

Thanks to all for the feedback. I’d like to avoid cutting on the car or going away from the push button trans but it sounds as though that may not be possible if I opt for a crate engine. The mechanic who worked on my car last fall doesn’t like to fabricate or make major modifications so I may...

    Blueprint crate engine

I would too if I’m being honest. Hell if it were mine it would probably have a twin turbo g3hemi in it. But that’s not how I interpreted the OPs thoughts on the car. “Not raced or driven hard” to me says cruiser and my head moves to stockish power and an overdrive.

    Blueprint crate engine

...in whatever kind of an engine you want, but I am pretty sure you'll need to swap out the transmission. The old Powerflite will likely not tolerate the power. I'd consider a modern 5 or 6 speed Automatic overdrive. How cool would it be to be able to smoke your tires AND get 25 MPG on the highway.
