The overdrive is all bolted in and fits with adequate clearance. Best of all NO cutting and only minor dimpling to the tunnel in one area on the driver's side. Just gotta do the final electrical connections on the overdrive unit and speed sensor. Next up is to shim the rearend back 7/16"...

Are you sure you have a 833 four speed? The picture shows a 3-speed overdrive shifter. Can you post a clear picture of the raised pad on the passenger side of the main case?

Take some of the money you planned to spend on the new engine and install a Gear Vendors Overdrive. You won't be disappointed. Your engine will be happy and those 4.56's will be just fine with your stoker build down the road.

Yes and as well it would be a 23 spline input shaft and non overdrive as found in '75 and up cars... The flywheel would be a 130 tooth that takes a 10 1/2'' 23 spline clutch disc and matching pressure plate.

If it's a granny gear 4 speed, you wouldn't want to put that in there. If it's an 833 overdrive, it could be made to work, but would be WAY more trouble than finding an A body 833, along with the related parts to do the change over. The truck 833OD's have a longer tailshaft than an A body 833.
