Slant six flywheel for manual trans

...but I guess they’re kind of rare. From what I’ve been reading the A-833 OD trans has basically same ratios as a 3 speed with overdrive 4th gear, and they don’t shift as quick as the non overdrive trans. Don’t think I need a clutch that beefy but I’m sure I could be wrong. This car will be a...

...can't see them all, download too slow. Possible to post a link to seller's ad with pics? Anyone heard of a four speed torque flight with overdrive? Sounds like more salesman babble. Looked at a '62 Valiant on Craigslist in N. Vancouver but distance and potential border...

    Honestly...how good was the 318...mpg / durability / hp

Ahhhhh yesssss, the lock up overdrive 904 variant. Veeeeeeery good for mileage. Not so much in the HP handling department. It’ll handle 400HP. Fine enough I guess.

My Gear Vendors Install Thread - '67 Barracuda Notchback 340/416 Stroker

Racked up some miles today with the new Gear Vendors overdrive. So smooooth. 141 miles miles total. Filled up again at the end and it says I averaged 18.06 mpg. Not bad for 530 horse with 3.73 gears and a 4000 rpm stall converter. I'll take that! Looking forward to seeing how it performs with...

    42RH in 68 Dart advice/request

...of the a500 style trans is the lack of upgradeable parts (lockup input shaft namely). So similar to the 904, 500hp would be pushing it for the a500 in my opinion. Slightly less geartrain power loss, but with the overdrive that will be the majority of power the loss with both transmissions.

    Preferred Transmission question

As not to hijack a current thread, which tranny is more desired say in a 68 340 Dart? 1-The A518, later 46RH (hydraulic) 2-The A500, later 40RH/42RH (hydraulic) I've often thought about a Gear Vendor for my 833 but also considering auto overdrive as I'm not getting any younger.

    727 vs TKX

If you are willing to mod the tunnel, then you might as well install an A518/A500; with their .69overdrive. If you can, get the one with the tighter ratios and a lock-up for sure. With 3.91s I would try whatever convertor it comes with. These opinions all change with .69 overdrive, that shrinks...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

As I have done countless times. But with GV on it it really won't stay on the floor jack. I don't want to drop anything at this stage. Trans jack is the ticket IMO. That overdrive unit is over 2 grand. Don't need to drop it

    A518 46RH rebuild

...of the transmission too high, throwing off driveline angles. You may end up needing to cut the center out and fabricate a new flatter center like one of the two I have shown. I suspect the large diameter of the overdrive unit required the shape change in the crossmember to get the angles correct.

Obviously I do not know your shop layout, but no way you can lift body off and remove from bottom? Maybe some creative rigging? Alternatively rent some kind of equipment to lift it off if you do not have any way to rig? You are a smart guy so I am guessing you got it sorted out but that just...

Hello! I 'm just beginning the install of a Gear Vendors Overdrive in my '67 Barracuda and figured I'd start a thread with as many details as I can post along the way. I started by reading through the install notes a couple of times so I could make a plan of attack and "hopefully" avoid too...

    Living with 3.91's

...on SoCal freeways with that combo. My current '69 Dart will run 4.30s behind a moderate build 360 and a reverse-pattern-manual-shift 200-4R overdrive trans. The 200-4R has a better gear spread than a 727 and the 0.67 OD will make those 4.30s like 2.88s so it will be freeway-friendly as well...

    Center Section Differential Recommendation

What trans behind the gen 3? Number of overdrive will determine best ratio for the rearend. What works best with a six speed, will result in a lot of highway rpm with a 727. A LOT of rpm.

    46RH Slip Yoke Trouble

There was a change in the spline angle, but I'm not sure exactly when. That's why a yoke for/from an overdrive normally won't fit a 727. I had an early 518 with the same issue you're having, ended up using a 727 yoke. Makes me think they did the change sometime in the early 90s?

    A833 OD shift mechanism

Not really. You just turn the 3-4 lever over to make them work. 4speed overdrive linkage set up correct?
