Machine Shop Did not Shim Valve Springs

There will be small variations in stem height from the factory, those 340HP springs definitely need shimmed to correct height, they are a decent spring rate but short. They only have ~75# load on the seat factory installed ht., pretty light, & just like stiff suspension springs/T-bars...they...

[SOLD] 1970 340 Exhaust manifolds, TTI 2.5” head pipes and custom 2.5” mid pipes

When I bought the manifolds they were painted. When I stripped the paint off this writing was on there. Not sure of the accuracy but it seems like a partial vin for the 340 Duster these came from.

[SOLD] 1970 340 Exhaust manifolds, TTI 2.5” head pipes and custom 2.5” mid pipes

This whole system is under 4 months old with less than 300 miles on it. It’s a set of 10/30/69 Dated manifolds(no heat riser), correct manifold hardware, TTI 2.5” head pipes and as much of the mid pipe as you want up to the mufflers. This is all in a 67 Barracuda Automatic car, should be a...

"Idiot light" vs. Oil Pressure Gauge

I have an oil pressure gauge [ standard in my car ] & I added an idiot light sender. A $2 buzzer is connected to the sender as an immediate, audible alarm. As AJ says, you cannot always be looking at your gauges.

340 Cold Valve Lash Unknown Cam

If the correct lash is unknown, then you certainly do NOT want to set lash at 028/032". Many modern grinds use 018 -020" lash. Ultradyne [ now Bullet ] use 016 lash. Setting lash way too large slams the lifter into the cam flanks, & not the clearance ramps as designed, shock wave to the valve...

shot peening a distributor gear for a roller camshaft

You know, I’m not sure what size that pin is and IIRC it’s a tapered pin. I have a drive at home but I’m not there until Friday at the earliest. I know if I were going to pin it I’d used a tapered pin.

shot peening a distributor gear for a roller camshaft

What size pin would you use I think it's a 3/8" hole? Not really sure. I read somewhere possibly on for a bodies only, just use a drill bit and snap it of once it's through the shaft? I'm running some pretty heavy valve springs I currently have a HV pump in it but will be replacing it with a...

340 Cold Valve Lash Unknown Cam

As above check the lash COLD now. Write it down. Fire it up and drive it. It’s not good enough to just warm it up. Get it to temperature and put a few miles on it. Then pop a valve cover off while it’s hot. Check several valves and write down what it is. Compare results. They should be looser...
