...issues. So someone came by and stole all 4 wheels leaving it on concrete blocks. Then helped themselves to the intake and carb( Edelbrock intake with Holley 750 double pumper). So after some insurance and saving decided to restore it. First guy to start restoration took it apart, then...

Cylinder head discussion 340 with stock above deck pistons

hi. i am going to try to give you the answers to the questions YOU asked. first things first , your actual compression ratio right now is closer to 9.5:1 ( i get 9.4). you could safely use a 65cc head and get around 10.2:1. that is assuming everyone is wrong and that you have stock replacement...

    New Edelbrock intake quality issues

Well it didn’t fit… I did a dry fit and it was all good but when I added the gaskets I couldn’t get the bolts started in about half the holes. I was using a slightly thicker gasket .065 vs .060 so I ordered the thinner ones to try next week. Have speedmaster heads and had an intake leak. Had a...

    Sizing carburetor

Being a street driver and an Air Gap intake, I would choose the Edelbrock AVS2 650 CFM carb. An Air Gap does not have the heat transfer a conventional manifold has, so the annular boosters aid fuel atomization for better driveability.

Tear into it, or bolt in and go???

I have a dilemma, and I need advice on which way to go. I had a 1971 la318 in my 66 Dart, bone stock 2 bbl 318.i was going to do some upgrades, but I t was tired and I picked up a 1974 318 to drop in. The 74 already has been swapped to an edelbrock 4bbl intake and carb, so I was going to just...

    New Edelbrock intake quality issues

Maybe I’m being picky but sprung for a new air gap and not too impressed. Lots of slag and bumps, holes drilled off center and clean up done upon arrival. Wondering if I should have went knock off and saved some money.

Cylinder head discussion 340 with stock above deck pistons

You have a 360, my best 60' I posted above. It was 2.0, 1/8 8.5@86, 1/4 13.1 @ 108. I can probably shave a bit off my 60' but as I said above I've only done the 1/4 for one event. There is no track close to me anymore. So fine tuning launch rpm isn't easily available. This thread is originally...

    Sizing carburetor

The thing with carburetors is, an 800 Holley is not the same as an 800 Eddelbrock AVS an 800 Thermoquad, yet, no matter how much you try and preach it, people will not listen. AT ALL. So, all I can say is, all my stuff through the years has run well and hauled ***. There's just no way in HECK...

The revised boosters on the AVS2 make a big difference in throttle response, for sure. When I put an AVS2 650 onto my 408 as a test, the throttle response was very much like an EFI. Much better than the Holley style I normally run.

Like your old school cam grind numbers. Here is hands on > I usually run the Edelbrock 600 1406 on most everything stock build. Friend had an AVSII 650 cfm for me to test out on the stock fresh build 360 on the engine run stand, with the 340 cam. Dropped it on, ran perfect right out of the...

I am looking to sell my 1965 Plymouth Barracuda Commando that I've owned since late 2003. It is more of a Trans Am clone now. I am currently located in La Quinta, CA 92253. The car lived most of its life in Anaheim, and a couple years in each Long Beach, San Clemente and La Quinta. Strictly...

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

My point was the Edelbrock 1407 as manufactured is flawed. Its not fair to draw any conclusion about the design or whether the extra cfm/lower restriction is a demonstrateable advantage or disadvantage. If @Divenut wants to use the 750, then fix the flaws an it should be OK. Just looking at...

...in the towel not giving a **** because Vic got the hammer real bad. Honestly laughing and hard.

    318 power!

I did and threw them away. They were free to me. I would never do that. That’s you! I rarely… what a bummer…. Even so, on a driver, absolutely an everyday car like any other car on the road today, the 302 head would not make it on top of my engine. If it does yours, OK fine, whatever, IDGAF...

I would t touch an iron head for a 318. I’d use an Edelbrock head straight away. You’ll be way ahead dollar wise and head flow wise.

I've been reading 318 threads; most recently the one about XE cams. 14 years ago I bought a 68 Charger that still had the original 2 barrel, 318 w/904.
