speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

Edelbrock didn’t reinvent the wheel when they produced the RPM head. The took dimensions of a stock cast iron head. Same rocker shafts, same rockers fit, 2.02 valve size, 1.60 valve size, same intake bolt pattern, same exhaust bolt pattern, same alternator bolt pattern, ect. Edelbrock didn’t...

Here is the spec sheet. It’s an edelbrock carb that he used for the package. When I got the car the thermoquad was missing

    Hello from North Ga.

Thanks for the welcome and compliments on the car. Agreed on the bulkhead connector, it was definitely a fire waiting to happen, the previous repair section of wiring they had in there running through the bulkhead for the alternator side somehow had over 6 ohms of resistance in less than 6...

My best guess is the same problem every company has: So many of the good workers are retiring, etc, and it's difficult to bring in the new crop of workers with any pride, integrity, and accomplished work ethics. I won't even begin to say the changes the company I work for has made to...

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

The fact that they've gotten into permanent mold castings is another good sign. Permanent molds cost a lot more and the equipment to support them even more so, but the quality is much higher and repeatability is greater which makes thinner walls and precision geometry much easier to produce...

Having dealt with Edelbrock on a couple intake manifolds Edelbrock is trying to turn things around. I’ve seen good things going on. Fingers crossed

I think, I know it's poor QC. Some of it is just the process. Most of the mopar parts are sand-cast versus permanent mold. Sand casting can produce good parts, but worn or neglected tooling results in more tolerances and of the processes they run, sand is probably the most variable. As a result...

It's also not hard to see a big drop in quality with Edelbrock products in the last few years. We've all seen mismatched intake ports and problems with some cylinder heads. SOMETHING is going on and making products overseas would explain it. What do you think it is?

    Intake Manifold Gasket Recommendations

This is what I used on my Edelbrock Airgap with no issues. No china wall gaskets. Get a good phenolic spacer for under the carb, Edelbrock has these also. Check out the Holley web site for parts. https://www.edelbrock.com/intake-manifold-gasket-for-for-1966-87-318-340-360-chrysler-engines-7276.html

    Gets hot and stalls out

Believe it or not the Edelbrock carbs are more prone to heat soak because of where the bowls are.

    Gets hot and stalls out

I’m running electric brakes, but clearly I was not on them at speed. Fuel pump is mechanical. Really not much else- MSD, radio, that’s about it. Everything else I can think of is mechanical. I ordered some coolant specifically made for high performance engines that has a 70/30 glycol:water...

    Gets hot and stalls out

Can't help but think the Holley what you call them > double pumpers... 2 outter fuel bowls soaking up the heat from a hot intake and engine. The difference between Holley and Edelbrock is Edelbrock has the 2 fuel bowls protected under the removable top bonnet plate. less heat transfer to the...

    Intake Manifolds

Offenhauser never made a dual Pane intake manifold. Their low-profile manifolds are a split plenum single plane. Not the single plane design like a Victor or Torker either. 50s tech. They made a "Dual Port" which does not accomplish the claims Offy made. Offys Tunnel Rams and Port O sonic single...

    LD4B Intake question

On SMCARNUT’s intake, that particular boss isn’t there. It’s s a good idea though. The sensor just has to go into the cylinder head to clear.

    LD4B Intake question

Back in the seventies, I ran a Torker 340 intake. It had no provision for a mechanical temperature gauge. I just drilled and tapped a hole in the intake's water jacket, between the thermostat and the driver's side head - basically where the factory location was, and where Edelbrock puts the...

US Car Tool A518 Cross member

The big thing when making that crossmember is driveline angle. Get yourself 2 spirit levels, and an angle finder. Since you will likely have to make the crossmember with the new transmission in place as a jig of sorts, you will need to do a few things. Firstly the car needs to be dead level...

    Need top end advice

Save the W2 for a race application. The Edelbrock well ported will make the power. It will not even require a big cam. IMO, you’re on the right track. I’d use less compression (11-1 or s still more than enough.) and have the heads and Victor ported. A 1-3/4 header into a 2-1/2 exhaust with a...

    Need top end advice

Unless you just want to have the W2's to say you have them, I'd re-use the Edelbrock heads and have them worked over and maybe taken out to a 2.05 or 2.08 valve. The W2 have more potential but they need to be ported as well to take advantage of it. The bespoke rockers/intake/header flange all...

OK , I'm sure this topic has been done to death but I really need a direction to go in. I'm building a 408 stroker from a .030 over 360. looking at 11:5 - 1 compression , pretty good size hydraulic roller cam. I'm looking for 500-550 hp if possible, It's going in a 3200 lbs 67 dart with a 4...

    Inferno Red 74 Duster!

Wow, I have not sent an update since May of 2020! Let's see, where do I start? I hit a deer a couple years ago and that resulted in a new hood, DS fender, grille and lots of paint touch ups. I had a great experience dealing with Hagerty insurance on this claim and the car is in way better shape...

Not sure this intake will feed 600 hp

It’ll bolt on…. With the use of a drill and tap on the head…. Port alignment is another issue. There isn’t enough aluminum to port match it to the stock window on the head. Maxing out the intake window area is the best that can be done at that area. It will help a lot.

Am I missing something? He says he's building a 408 stroker using Edelbrock magnum heads. That intake won't even bolt on?!?

    65 Barracuda daily driver

I worked on quite a few things on the Barracuda. This was one of my favorites - only one of the three bulbs in the gauge cluster was working, which meant you couldn't really read any of the gauges. I took the cluster out, cleaned everything and changed the (LED) bulbs, but that only fixed the...

Low speed torque and driveability ?

Here a 340 torque stock on the left fully modded with an xe268h cam on the right, it's not showing under 3000 rpm but it's unlikely the xe268h is making less stock to at least 2500 possible 2000 rpm. So your driving around at say 2000 rpm you hit the throttle, at 3000 rpm all these mods make...
