    I hate to ask but

    I would not claim to be an expert but I have a 2004 Alero and ran into an issue with the ignition switch. Apparently late model GM stuff has a security bypass that will not allow the car to start if the key is hit too hard or put in too hard. I guess it thinks you are trying to jam the lock...
