Engine miss under load - ignition concerns

Thanks for the feedback with your experience on the HEI set ups. I have read the (very simple) conversions others have done on this site. I too would likely bury an HEI Module inside the factory box if I did this to at least make it look OEM. Maybe I'm too nostalgic, this being my first Mopar...

Engine miss under load - ignition concerns

Well I think I have tracked down the engine miss. Installed new braided ground strap to chassis. No change to engine miss. Installed a buddies spare ECU (Chrome box) and running fantastic. I'll run it this way for a bit to make sure it is / has been resolve. Do you think it wise to upgrade...

Engine miss under load - ignition concerns

Wow, quick reply and thanks 67DART273. It was your reply in a previous post the noted the voltage on the negative side should be down around 2V or so that lead me to try better grounding first. I will not give up on the grounds just yet. I did not check the body ground. I do have a good...

Engine miss under load - ignition concerns

Hello all, hope you can help (I know you can). I've read up on a couple dozen posts through the search function with people having various ignition troubles and I've learned allot thanks to all that have contributed. My car and a bit of what I have checked so far: 1973 Duster Stroked 360...

    Mini Starter Help

I believe the year of the starter in post 14 (and mine) looks to be from a 2000 dakota. I see a plug offered in mopar electrical 05017122AA. Lists for over 30.00. I can get a whole used starter and harness for less than this so that's the route I'm taking.

    Mini Starter Help

I don't think I'm lucky enough to have that particular starter. The plastic housing appears to be moulded to the solenoid and contains a single miniature male spade terminal. Exactly like the one pictures in post #14 / page 1. I've got a crushed female spade terminal ATM and it is losing it...

Sorry I missed the show. Did just get the Duster running on Sunday though. Sounded like a great turnout.

    Mini Starter Help

I have the same starter and need this connector as my wire falls off and you can imagine what a pain in the hole that is. Anyone find the Chrysler P/N or lead me to a year / model to look up online?

Nice ride and welcome to FABO! I'm fairly new on here too and the help has been fantastic for a rookie Mopar guy.

    1/8'' Pipe Plug?

I went through all the oil mod threads and nothing like this was done. I just opened up a couple of block locations and oil pump. I'll say this plug was a left over from another (non-Mopar) orange engine project, LOL! Thanks for your replies, I'm feeling a bit more at ease now......

    1/8'' Pipe Plug?

I am almost complete reassembling my small block and I notice a 1/8'' socket head pipe plug laying in my tool box. It has orange paint on it so I assume it's from this engine but I don't remember removing it. Any ideas of where it may have originally been located in the engine, or a fluke /...

How to Assemble the Front of a Small Block

Thanks again for the insight KrazyCuda, and the link to Mancini. I've ordered the replacement oil slingers from them (seemed like a great pricing). Already drill the camshaft retainer bolt and installed the 2 oil galley plugs.

How to Assemble the Front of a Small Block

Thanks. Just pulled the front off the 340 and doesn't have a slinger either. I guess I'l order 2, LOL! Meanwhile I can drill the hole and find some plugs too.

How to Assemble the Front of a Small Block

My engine has been torn down previously (built 415 not by me) that I am reassembling now and it has no plugs in the block, no bolt with through hole and no oil slinger. Seems like 3 strikes to me. Should I tear down my 340 and rob the oil slinger at least out of it? It does have the drip...

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

I'm not sure if I'm trying to convince myself that not sending out to re-balance is OK, but attached is a link about engine balancing and discuss option to over or under balance and by what percentage engine builders use. My thoughts are that changing to the better Scat I Beam road and dropping...

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

If this is true then I can go down (or up) in weight a fair amount. The Scats are a possibility, less than 2% change. Using 10% I could go up as high as 665 gram weight, that seems allot!

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

Nice, I've looked at those Molnar units and read up on his history. I'll likely just throw a new set of Eagle I Beams in to save re-balancing. Not sure if I'm attached to this unit just yet. Was supposed to be a quick flip car as I'm looking to do something closer to a full resto type...

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

Staying with the I-Beams as I'd likely have to add weight to crank for the heavier H-beams. Thanks.

If it was easy everyone would do it......

If you can remove the manifold and have exposed stud remaining, I've had good luck with heating the stud and shocking with water, if it won't come out with vise grips in the first place. If there isn't anything to grab onto then the other methods noted above will work. It can be done on the...

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

No oiling mods that I'm aware of. Stock 360 Magnum based block with RHS / Indy heads. Been doing lots of reading up on the subject though. Thanks. Well, it was originally an Indy Cylinder Heads 415 Crate motor rated at 520 h.p. Find that a bit hard to believe with an camshaft intake...

    Replacement Rods - Upgrade?

I've got my SB 415 torn down as the # 3 rod journal was bad. Crank is now ground and back in the block and I'm thinking I should replace the connecting rods with new ones as they appear to have already been out another time for a crankshaft replacement as, according to the original build sheet...
