    MLS Gaskets

I hear ya! After the second cam failure i am getting tired of pulling and repair!! hence the roller. I am not willing to gamble with a flat tappet cam again. I guess i could look into maching the quench pad on the piston down and use a 1008 gasket, but i suspect that would be even more than...

You can easily just grab the flexplate with the 5.9 (360) and that will allow you to use your neutral ballance converter. You will only need to slot one torque converter bolt hole slightly. Easy peasy

Lol yep, primates are smart, devious and destructive lol. Cleaning any of their bodily fluids would be disgusting lol. All the rentals were zebra striped too, wtf were they thinking?? Pretty sure a Zebra isn't an Apex predator lol.

    17" Magnum 500's

The Year One 17” magnums are like the 17” year one rallye’s, the backspace and sizing isn’t really very good for A-bodies. They’re basically set up for B/E bodies. I’ve seen it done, but, you have to run smaller tires than is typically used on the wheel widths and you will have to keep your...

1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp - Restoration is a strong word

After taking the old radio apart, I couldn’t see a way to keep the stock look while making room for the Bluetooth amp, so I put the old non-working radio back together and installed the amp in the glove box. It’s hidden, but very accessible.

    Nope of the day

Yep. Back in the early 80s when I had my auto upholstery business I can’t tell you how many dozens of vinyl tops I replaced on cars that got shredded going through Great Adventure Animal Safari in NJ. The baboons loved to climb on the cars and peal the vinyl tops like ripe bananas. I always...

a point to consider is how the car is going to be used. for a race car that sees teardowns frequently, it's fine because that is almost expected and goes part and parcel with that type of activity. but a daily driver or a road trip machine? what's the gamble worth if you lose a gasket in BFE...

    Quincy Air Compressor Help needed

There's a pop off valve at the pressure switch that is supposed to bleed the head pressure off when the compressor cuts off when it hits max pressure on the cutoff switch. Try pulling the ring on it and see if it relieves any air from the pump.

Thanks for weighing in Johnny Mac, it's good advice, I'm going with a junkyard engine. I've been happy with the power of my current 318 that developed a crack in the block after 2 seasons and 5000 miles. My oldest son and I rebuilt it together, it was my first fully built engine and his too at...

    MLS Gaskets

This I guess is what I was hoping to hear, but needed to hear it from someone who has actually done it. Or I would have been happy to hear the opposite opinion of someone who did it without success, just to rule out the possibility of doing it, but definitely not as happy as in the former

    MLS Gaskets

We put a bead of high temp silicone around the water ports in between the layers and just copper coat the gasket faces when installing. We don’t reuse them as we’re building racing engines. But would have no problem reusing for a street car engine.

    318 Build? Help!

If you are going to tow with it use a 4 inch crank. Edit: yes I saw the no stroker in your post. I say don’t step on your dick. The cost to do a 4 inch cast crank isn’t bad. If you are rpm limited then adding stroke is the best end around option.

    318 Build? Help!

Yeah, the valves actually rattle with the springs off, lol. No delusions there. The Army dash tag says "Do not exceed 60 mph" LOL. It'll be turning 2800 @ 65 on the highway. Can't say I'd want to drive it any faster.

    Aftermarket gears?

Not really. Open ignorance isn’t fun. Why in 2025 anyone would think you can’t use synthetics in these boxes is a fool. I never said it saves parts. But it sure makes them easier to shift. Since 1979 I’ve been doing it with at least 3 different brands. But because someone says it can’t be...
