    318 Build? Help!

the key to this whole endeavor is two fold: making power down town (ie under 5K) and maximizing the the parts to work together in the best possible way. i like the idea of the bumping up what is surely dismal compression with either of those pistons and pairing them up with those 596's, with...

    Lastest thoughts on Dodge Charger

Thanks guys. Went and picked it up last night. In the 12 miles I put on it so far it seems nice. Here's hoping for many years of happy motoring.

Your thoughts on the 5.7 hemi tick

They (all makes) all have their quirks. Doesn't matter if it's a ford, gm, or chrysler product. Having driven late model versions of them all, and owning 4 late model hemi's ranging from 130-251k Miles, the hemi's are far from the worst. The gm "Dod" engines, and the ford cam phasers, are as...

    318 Build? Help!

Built many trucks and all had 410's. My choice in the same truck was a completely stock 69 340 with the AVS it came with. It pulled like a freight train. I had a 73 360 HP in one and I did not like it. The only other choice would be a P pump 5.9 or 2004-2007 5.9 Common rail. I did that...

Dust off your crystal ball and GUESS the horsepower !

Get him this book for bathroom reading so he can nerd out. It will probably help him hold interest over time because he will have a good understanding of the mechanics. Who knows, he may want to become an engineer. Do the math with him on each part of planning the build, so he gets a good feel...

    318 Build? Help!

It don't take too much power to tow, just with smaller engines you might have to drop it a gear or two to get in the powerband, unlike a diesel that makes it's power at rpms that happen at general road speeds so no or little down shifting required. Your probably gonna be in the 2500-4000 rpm...

Dust off your crystal ball and GUESS the horsepower !

If I recall, the Mopar Performance 360 crate engines came in 300 HP and 380. The 300 was supposedly a stock truck engine that was normally rated at 230 as installed in new trucks with catalytic converters and manifolds.

    318 Build? Help!

Last I knew, valves should not clatter within the guides. Literally, they wobble when the springs are removed.

Dust off your crystal ball and GUESS the horsepower !

a 5.9 with a reground cam and the hong kong phooey intake is a hard combo to beat. only problem is that you're almost gar-un-teed to need cam bearings and heads. but if you put together the basics from the start you can have something that's perfectly serviceable and quite mellow with tons...

Flooding is either a needle and seat issue of a bad float.... Bad brass floats are easy to spot, it'll have gas in it... Nitrophyl check the weight compared to a good float On the needle & seat, unscrew it from the carb, look for debris in the needle & seat, also check the o ring on the , a...

1971 Duster 340 10" front drum brakes - what other Mopar brake drum hubs will fit?

yeah it's possible to go out to 5X4.5 on the 10" hub, there's enough meat. you just need a competent machine shop to do the work. obviously you'll need to drill the drum as well. down the line if you need to replace a drum, you'll need to buy another small bolt and have it drilled because...
