    Cams for 318's

I don't believe reman long blocks come with exhaust manifolds, so you can't use that as evidence. IMO compression ratio should have been furnished by the reman company. A look at the casting date could help, but you can't guarantee what parts were used in the reman process. I also don't buy 230...

    Parts swap on industrial 318

I ran a ported set on my car for years with a edelbrock performer & a weiand action plus manifold. Block the coolant passages as per post #4 and your good. I also ran coolant through the manifold for a while at the start but it eventually leaked and dropped some coolant in the oil. No leaks...

    360 Magnum Build

Why would you want to run a stock magnum intake on a set of cnc machined and ported cylinder heads? Just use an aftemarket intake manifold from Edelbrock, etc....

    360 Magnum Build

You can, but you can’t use a Magnum intake. There set up & drilled for LA intake manifolds.

    New scat pack swinger

I think it is a shame they never hopped the 5.7 up. It's functionally a truck motor, if not less than as the truck gets an SRV intake and the cars don't. Would have been cool if they had built a "Magnum" 5.7 using the intake, cam and exhaust off the 6.4 and sold that the last year. I'm sure...

    318 For Fun

Along those lines, with 230 horse with a stock cam, 2 barrel, and manifolds, building a 300 horse engine shouldn't be a big deal. You can build a 400 horse engine fairly easily as well. If you want. Or you can find a 360 or a Magnum and get there easier and probably cheaper.

Port my current M1 single plane or install the RPM Air Gap?

That would be a great test. Although I think the efi M1 was not “designed” as a dry flow manifold. Mopar took the M1 single and added bungs to it. At least I think so.

    B & C body 360 manifolds

Looking for a solid answer on fit of this style B/C body exhaust manifold in an early A (driver's side): I keep seeing them referenced in discussions, but early A threads keep getting polluted with later A info that does not apply, and I have never actually seen any of these in use. The first...

    Port-o-sonic or Holley Street Dominator?

You do make good points there, I’ll definitely do some number crunching before it all happens. That said, call me weird, but one draw to using a different intake over the Hughes one is the challenge of figuring everything out to make it work. I do plan to use the factory magnum rails, regardless...

    Magnum manifold PSA

If anyone is considering doing magnum manifolds on your car while your at the junkyard pulling the manifolds snag the downpipe too. I was having some clearance issues on the drivers side causing issues with the kickdown linkage. So I got the bright idea of using the downpipe off my 2001 ram...

    Neutral balancing a 360?

He did mention the possibility of an internal balance with lighter rods and pistons, along with some mallory metal. I think the Scat I-beam SBM rods are about 100 grams lighter than the stock ones. Not really wanting to spend the extra money on this build though, especially for "special"...

Port my current M1 single plane or install the RPM Air Gap?

Yeah, I agree. I would bet my house that Mopar Performance didn't sponsor the episode on the back of their M1 dual plane, and we already know the Edelbrock Air Gap is pretty much the gold standard for dual plane small block manifolds anyway. The only thing we really learned in that episode is...

    Magnum Vs LA 360

Hey Wes. Having both scenarios played out in my own cars, both in the same car, I’ll fall you what the LA lacks and you can take it from there. In my experience…. The LA lacks compression. Being a ‘79, in the heart of the crap power years due to emissions, it will only recover so much. This is...

Could this idea work ? Did other guys did this ? 318 infos

Small ports can be good for port velocity. Obviously you watch DV videos. Take note of his mention in Ep80 of down the road installing inexpensive and lighyer Chev LS valves. Spring installed height could be an issue, but the LS springs, retainers and keepers can be used, even from a wrecker to...

anyone ever flow test 383 A body manifolds say vs 383-440 hp manifolds

I think the old 300hp crate motor exhaust test is worthless. The cam in the stock Magnum 5.9 (which is the same in the 300hp crate motor) is so small that there were only minor differences in power between them all. But the cam was already limiting the motor so any difference the exhaust made...

    Onservation about magnum 5.9

There's a couple reasons to this...But being that you also compared the engine with a carburetor to itself with injection... let's go there. The fuel injected 5.9 is managed by a computer with mostly a fixed tune. Has anyone here flowed/determined what the kegger flows? I hear as cast it is...

    Very impressed with gas mileage

Something wrong there! Best mileage V8 I had was a ‘79-360/904/2.76 in a Dodge Magnum sporting 235/60/15’s on all 4 corners. I gave the engine dual exhaust off of the exhaust manifolds @ 2-1/4 w/an H pipe, a factory 4bbl w/a 600 AFB and a vacuum advance distributor from the junk yard off a...

Aluminum Intakes - What are You Running?

I've looked at these a few times due to the price but have also heard these manifolds fit and perform poorly. Are you happy with how it fits and runs on your engine? I have ran a weiand action plus and the std edelbrock performer on mild motors and like the weiand better.

Front "China wall" sealing issue on SBM

I would contact the manufacturer and show them what's up. With that design you aren't the only one with the issue. Possibly they caught the issue and made a production change to correct it. You could have bought a early manifold.

Engines with lack bottom end power?

Tuning is important but especially if it's a carb'd application, air speed and booster signal at lower RPMs are crucial. They are directly related to how responsive an engine is under light throttle. Also when larger amounts of valve overlap come into play the tuning of the exhaust can make a...

Building a Duster for the wife.

IDK if that was a mention to leave tips and comments on YouTube but I’ll say the Magnum engine is as you probably know 245hp as it sits so a mild cam will help a little there. If you can get dual exhaust up the manifolds, I personally would go with a 2-1/2 dual exhaust. That would be very good...

    65 barracuda

I think I see a manual steering gear. If you are keeping that you could try Dakota/Ram/Jeep "Magnum" manifolds. Even the "small" outlet versions should flow better than stock 273/318/360 manifolds. ...and they sound good, too.

    Mission Impossible 318

I'm definitely interested in what a properly built and blueprinted engine will do in terms of power. I'd also like to see it done in stages. Start with the basic engine, 2bl, manifold, stock cam etc. Then step it up incrementally and measure the effects. Richard Holdener does a lot of this kind...
