    Intermittent heat issues 225 slant

Yup I have the factory manual for the 74, the hanes, and the body service manual. I have been through all the ducting nothing is blocked, the airflow is great very strong and consistent, it runs quiet and well. I will check the heater hoses tomorrow when I take it for a run. I was on the coast...

    Intermittent heat issues 225 slant

no AC heat only, vacuum controlled valve unsure but I don't think so. The engine temp stays consistent regular temp, on long highway drive trips (3 hours or more) it can get quite high on hills and can get consistently warm and has to be monitored.

    Intermittent heat issues 225 slant

New to cars ish, and just wanted to verify a hunch, I get interior heat rarely, and when I do there really isn't a constant that follows. Its a 74 dart swinger with 225 slant 6 in it, Im assuming it would be the thermostat causing this?

    Trunk Lock spring

Turning the key never was difficult, it seems though the pin itself after the spring got weak falls out of place (just below) so it won't engage and just spins freely.

Front end upgrades 74 dart 225 slant 6

Yeah its still drum and manual steering, I have loved the experience of driving these old school mechanisms, very nostalgic indeed. Upgrading it though may be an asset considering this car drives year round, it would be nice in winter to have a little more consistent of a braking system...

    Trunk Lock spring

Ok so I have replaced the trunk Lock assembly in the past and discovered it was from the spring in the mechanism being too weak and stretching. Not longer then a few months later with the brand new mechanism, the spring again stretched and left me crawling through the back seat cross bars...

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

So far all the vacuum tests have come through successful. We are going to blow the sock filter out and see if that does the trick. :) (and the fuzzy skull dice stay :P )

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

har har, I better remove them dice right away and commence with operation virgin statue ;). A friend with a vacum tester etc will be coming by today and we will be running a bunch of the tests. Will report back as we start getting results :) Nice to have a few days off to get things figured...

Front end upgrades 74 dart 225 slant 6

I went in for an alignment today and as suspected I will be looking at replacing parts in the future. We starting discussing various options as to what to plan for and i'm looking for opinions on what is available and what the best options for long term would be. Its currently got a 225 slant 6...

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

    1) the car surges when it idles, it sounds like hell. It doesn't die, or feel like its going to die but it runs very very rough. I do not need to press on the accelerator to keep it idling. When the car is started cold, it does not surge like that, but does idle very rough still. 2) When I am...

Mopar folks in the 100 Mile area?

Hey there, I just recently moved back up to the interior and am wondering if there are any other mopar people out and about here, I've got a 74 dart swinger with a 225 and wonder what else is cruising about here. Say hi if your around :).

    Fuel Filters

Please forgive my naiveness yet again, but how do I get to the sock filter? Going off of what others have told me in my other post, I may need to change it. I want to be prepared to deal with it. :)

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

A friend came by yesterday to have a look. We replaced the inline fuel filter near the carb, and he adjusted the carburetor and reconnected quite a few of the hoses. The car was running better then it ever had, and had a lot more power and a lot less need for depressing on the accelerator. No...

    Fuel Filters

I have a 1974 dart with a slant 6 in it. Im going through the manuals and see that there is a possibility of there being 2 fuel filters. I know there is the inline filter, is there the second one in the fuel pump at this age?
  16. 74Dart_Girl

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

Im not sure how the pump is, as far as I know its ok. I believe the screw is turned back a bit. I had stall out issues after it was put on the road and the mechanic had to readjust it now and then to bring the idle back up. He then disconnected a small hose on the carb and the stalling issue...

Hesitation at 60 mph and up

Hey i'm somewhat car savvy but mostly naive. Today my car ran out of fuel and it stalled out pretty badly. We had a friend stop by and grab us some fuel then we headed back towards town. The car started doing the same threat of a stall and I had to push the accelerator pedal down to keep it...

blow by in 225, what does that mean exactly?

So I can somewhat find my way around a car, but i've still got a lot learn. I have had my car back on the road for a little over a month now, and Ive encountered a few issues and managed to work them all out. It runs super quiet and smooth and is a pleasure to drive (now that it isn't stalling...

    the right tranni fluid?

wow.. this has been an interesting debate on tranni fluid.. consenses enough says im keeping it in and not worrying about it.. good good.. onto other aspects of the car :) Thanks everyone for your valued opinions! :)
  27. 74Dart_Girl

    the right tranni fluid?

nope I kept the fluid.. if its fine, then ill leave it.. not really wanting to drop the pan and drain the torque converter if I dont need too..:D
  28. 74Dart_Girl

    the right tranni fluid?

unfotunatly.. its currently in my tranni.... im guessing its time to drain it again? luckily I havent driven it, ive only put it through the gears to top it off... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

    the right tranni fluid?

I've got a 74 dart swinger with a 225 slant six in it.. im assuming the tranni is a torque flite. Being new to the car I went to Lordco (parts chain in BC like NAPA ) and asked for the appropriate fluid. He gave me ATF +4, is this the correct fluid? It states on the label that it is NOT...
