Ford red for reference I hope @Abodysrule doesn’t mind me posting his picture. I bought this motor from him and painted it Chrysler Industrial red. Here is Chrysler red on the Clifford intake on the left vs ford red on the Offy on the right

So, serious question. Do I need to stop trying to go forward, and pull the cover off to make sure all timing marks line up and then proceed from there?

I don’t take it personally, we both chose Chrysler industrial red. Sure paint will fade over time, but I don’t think it would make up for the difference in the oil pan and distributor in your picture. The CI red is just too red to be right, even considering age/weathering/color loss.

As far as I know there are 2 different shades of IH Red. The cherry colored on I sampled above was the early color. Not orange enough for me too. Yes, use whatever you like. As long as it isn't Hemi Orange. LOL Sorry, I didn't mean anything by what I said. I don't know how many you sampled and...

I feel your pain. I had to cash in my 401K, then eventually sold my house when my son had a brain injury. Lost him 14 years later. Now taking care of my mom 95 years old with my Wife and 2 kids. Trying to save again at 66. Nice guys finish last!

I'm not sure what Tim's situation is (not my business) BUT... having dealt with people dying it's amazing what greed does to people when they find out someone died.. and people you never heard of show up with a hand out.. You really get to see who people are.

I need to do that bad... we just finished my stap dads estate and even with paperwork all done it took 2.5 years... absolutely insane... i have nothing prepared for death except my brain :)

OEM is probably best. Good, used should do well. I think Jim @hemi71x has had them for sale on FABO before. Maybe he can chime in if he has any available. If not, consider putting up a "Wanted" ad, and you should turn up some.
