    Ready to shoot my 273

Stroker Scamp, I wasn't implying I was not getting good advice. What I was/am saying is that I cannot afford all the specialty equipment to check out everything that everyone is suggesting I do. Therefore, it would probably cheaper for me in the long run to take the car to a professional...

    Ready to shoot my 273

Dodge Freak, where do you get jets for a 2 barrel carb? I know about 4 barrel carbs but have never heard of re-jetting a 2 barrel one. With all the test equipment people are suggesting I get, perhaps it would be cheaper to take the car to a real mechanic. Thanks for the help, Dan in...

    Some people at Car shows

I have people stop and tell me I have a nice Chevelle, it's actually a 67 Dart. I almost had it sold to a guy when I told him it was a very rare Dart Chevelle and only made for 6 months and sold in the surfing community of Malibu California. Some people will never learn. Dan in Silicon Valley

    Ready to shoot my 273

Sorry, I don't have a vacuum guage. I am setting timing by removing the vacuum advance from carb and plugging it and I also plug the line to the distributor. I'll have to call some friends to see if any of them have a vacuum gauge I can use. I'm also planning on installing a tach if I have time...

    Ready to shoot my 273

Thanks for all the help and replies. I advanced the timing to 20 degrees and turned the fuel mixtures screws out to 3 turns. After driving it yesterday morning to a show which did include freeway driving it ran better on the freeway, but when I pulled off and came to the first stop light it...

    Ready to shoot my 273

I'm at my whits end concerning my 67 Dart with a 273/904. Engine & tranny have 30-35,000 miles on a rebuild previously done before I got the car, it also has been upgraded to electronic ignition and the regulator has been changed to one for the electronic ignition. I've put on a water pump/had...

    How to install glovebox??

I just replaced the one in my 67 Dart last week. I wish someone had told me you could fold the sides in. It would have made installation much easier. I was able to get it in without ripping, tearing or wreaking the new one. I just need to get one more screw that I did not know I was missing...

Chop, Cut, and Rebuild (not this one)!!

I think the car fits into the catagory of: Just because you can, why? I'm not a big Nova fan, like the Duster much better, but that car needs to be put out of it's misery. Lite on fire, push off a short pier over deep water. Dan in Silicon Valley

    Diabetes And Cooking

You can also get whole wheat pasta and tortillas. I was told I had Type II in 2005, went on meds for 6 months, screwed my system up, went off for 6 months, re-tested and everything was in the normal range. Lost 35 lbs, got off the meds and now just watch what I eat. Quit drinking diet sodas...

    Old Gas in Tank

Thanks for the reply. The car was last started about 7 months ago. I stupidly added 5 gallons of gas to the tank to get it started without first checking the condition of the gas in the tank. I now get a strong varnish/gas smell from the carburetor when I'm trying to start it. I'll try either...

Differences between 67 and 68 darts

I also believe the pitman or lower control arm is different between the 67 & 68. Dash is also different between the 2 models. 67's have the backup lights in the bumper, 68's have them in the taillight housing. Dan in Silicon Valley

    Disrespect at a car show.

I was at a car show a couple years ago where I witnessed a 6 year old boy climb up on a 1932 Packard running board and lean against the spare tire and start kicking his shoe up and down on the running board, denting and scratching it all up, he was wearing dress shoes with hard rubber heals. The...

Home grown DUAL snorkel air cleaner

If you go to the Fram website and enter the info for the car the air cleaner you modified was for you can get the Fram part number and it will also give you the dimensions of the air filter. I did a quick search for you and figured the air cleaner you modified was for a Chrysler. So I typed in...

Dang, I wish I had a job and could buy a new Dodge Truck. My 98 with the 5.2, auto, 3.54 gears with 175,500 miles on it only gives me 10 - 14 mpg around town and 16-18 mpg on the highway. Dan in Kalifornia

    Alternator wiring

OK, I took the wire off the ignition side of the regulator and have now run a ground wire from the second terminal to the top bolt that holds the alternator to the engine block. Now when I start the car up the idle is just like it was before I changed alternators. Idle is choppy, amp gauge...

    Alternator wiring

Yes, the voltage regulator I have installed is an electronic voltage regulator that looks like the old style ones. I thought I had to run a wire from the second field post on the alternator to the ignition post on the voltage regulator? I thought you only grounded the second field post if you...
