How to Remove Pit Marks in my 68 Tail Panel

My biggest concern would be how thin the metal gets when you finally sand out the pits.

    Georgia, On My Mind.

Only for the '66+ heads. The intake bolts don't match on the earlier heads. For some crazy reason Mopar changed things, and after a short 2 year stint on one design, decided to "improve" it. The '64-'65 273 heads had different intake bolt patterns. Incidentally, the '66+ is what was used on...

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

Just to poke the fire, did you try reversing the rod where the bend goes upwards? It may interfere with the other shift rod, don't know. That bend may be to clear the other shift rod. I would have at least tried it by now.

Finally, getting somewhere, almost, maybe, or some time in the future...

At the bottom of this image -- passenger's side of the engine -- there is the oil filter to the left, followed by the distributor, and 2 more objects. One is probably the fuel pump. What is the other one?

1972 Duster, 340/4, black on black (the endgame)

My uncle special ordered a new '72 Duster 340. It included a 4-speed and rallye gauge cluster. It never came. He took a stock car off the lot; AT and standard square dash. The fact that I've never seen a factory '72 340 Duster with the '70-'71 Rallye cluster, and the fact that his special...

CHEAP people....let's see your stories about those frugal folks that were smart or really annoying!

One Saturday many years ago I told my wife, "I'm going out and am gonna find a Rampage, Turismo, or Charger ('80s FWD) for my new daily driver. Wanna ride along?" Of course she said, "Sure, why not." Of course she didn't have great expectations. We drove for at least an hour when I stopped...

66 valiant signet convertible Barracuda Conversion

That's basically what I did on my '70 Duster 4-speed shifter. Started life in a '75 Dart Sport managing an OD 4-speed. Cut, add bracket, weld. (Too many years ago, no pics.)

I sure wish I had this tire changer

Just had to change four low profile tires today with the manual tire changer. Took almost 5 hours to change 4 tires! That automatic version looks a whole lot better, though I'm sure it's quite a bit more expensive than the one I have.

I'm Cummins swapping a '74 Duster, thought I'd share the progress.

I participated in the 2010 X-Prize 100 MPGe Fuel Economy Race (Liberty Motors #20). One of the entrants had a Mustang with a Detroit diesel that got 138 MPG and would pull 10's in the quarter. It was featured in Hot Rod Magazine around that time as well. I say Go For It!

1974 Plymouth Valiant Scamp - Restoration is a strong word

If you had access to a 5-gas analyzer, the NOx would tell you the ultimate answer. If you were experiencing knock, or vapor lock before, decide for yourself if it reduced carb temps.

    Leaving phone out of reach

I keep my phone in my office most of the time. If I'm in the shop working, my phone is in my office. I do check it periodically. When I go to bed, the phone stays in the office. I take calls I want to, if it's important, I do listen to messages. Meanwhile, I do what's important to me and do...

1969 Dodge Dart GT “driver” build

You have 0.2 degrees more caster on the right than the left. If you can, reverse that so that you have a tick more caster on the left. The reason is the roads have a crown to them to help water run-off. In the Americas, we drive on the right, which means if caster is the same right/left...

    Swinging for Divorce…

Can't say it'll work on your Dart, but with my riding mower, I turn off the fuel valve before shutting off the engine. I let it run for 1/2 - 1 minute before shutting off the engine. The purpose is to purge the carb bowl of fuel so when I go to start it again, it has about the right amount of...
