Replaced fuel line and added electric fuel pump, now won't start.

We bought the Carter P4594. The car still isn't running. It got cold here -12C and I'm getting too old to go work in the garage when it's that cold. Good luck with your swap.

Thanks, I'm guessing that you are Dell according to RustyRatRod.

Replaced fuel line and added electric fuel pump, now won't start.

If only I knew, it got pulled out while I was working on the car. There's 3 possible combinations, which one is right and which one fries some 50 year old wire?

Also, that the drivers side of the engine bay, by the windshield washer reservoir and the ignition module.

It does crank, so maybe that's not it. Here's pics.

Replaced fuel line and added electric fuel pump, now won't start.

I finally broke down and ordered a new fuel line because it's the only part of the fuel system that we haven't replaced. Decided to ditch the mechanical fuel pump too for an electric. Anyway, some time during the process, I unhooked a jumper wire that fed into a plug. I assumed it was something...

Holley 750DP idling issue since rebuild

Fuel pressure is good, steady 6lbs. It's a new fuel pump too since the gas tank was changed out. I'll check the needled and seats. I did check the float height after the rebuild and it was set at the recommended slight trickle on my level garage floor. Thanks.

Holley 750DP idling issue since rebuild

I have a 1974 Swinger with a 360 bored .030" and a Edlebrock intake. I have a Holley 750DP that I've rebuilt twice now. The first time, I screwed around with the setup and installed a power valve on the secondaries and opened the secondary idle a little. It ran way too rich and idled poorly. I...

    What do you think happened?

Finally got some time to warm it up and check the timing and vacuum. It's all good, sitting at 20 degrees @ 800 rpm pulling 15 inches nice and steady. No vacuum leaks, the engine is happy with that timing, no pinging under load and idles well. I'm pointing to the carb. It's a hand me down from...

    What do you think happened?

Sorry for not responding. You are all on the right track, something slipped/opened up. I haven't been able to really look at it much here, cold, snowing, lazy. I did pull the plugs and they are black, I've been checking them all summer since we rebuilt the engine last winter. They've been nice...

    What do you think happened?

We drove the car to the last car show of the year and when we got there it was idling ~about 3000 RPM. It's been fine all summer and I haven't touched it. I have to back off the throttle cable adjustment almost a half inch to settle it down to normal. How on earth did I lose almost a half inch...

Intermittent starting and dying problem solved

The wiggle test. For sure, I wish I would have thought of that this summer. We were coming back from a car show and the oil pressure dropped on the highway. Yikes! I limped it home, looked it over and didn't see anything obvious, changed the oil and filter, cut open the filter, all clean. Took...

    LA Plug Wire Route

Here's pics of my 360 LA in my 74 Dart. Asbestos covers over the straight boots with Hooker headers. Seems to keep it all protected. It is a pain in the a$$ to pull the plugs and ensure the boot is on properly, usually lot's of skinned knuckles and choice words.

    Reliable brake work in Calgary

No, the drums were rust welded on. He used a puller and broke them free. All the drums were turned nice and it stops much better with the new master cylinder in it.

Any car shows or cruises in Alberta this year?

I took the Dart up to the Red Deer this weekend to attend the Central Alberta Mopars show at Parkland Mall. It was a good show, low crowd turnout. Some nice cars there for sure.

    Reliable brake work in Calgary

So, I guess I yanked too hard and pulled the whole assembly out. If I reinstall the pushrod back to the brake pedal I should be able to mount the new master cylinder right. It'll pop right back in? Sorry for the questions, my very first master cylinder replacement.

    Reliable brake work in Calgary

So Geoff at Shawnee pointed me to a guy who used to work for him with his own shop and a lathe to turn the drums. He did a good job, but he's no brake man. The pedal is still soft, so we determined that the master cylinder is bad. Pedal drops but fluid level doesn't. So we pulled the master...

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

Took it for a highway cruise. Dropped it in neutral, vibration continues in neutral. Seems to be in the front end and the drive train. Noticed the hood shaking in neutral at 60 mph engine idle. I also dropped it into 1st gear from a stop and ran it at 40mph at 4000 RPM for a few blocks, no...

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

It's more of a whomp whomp for sure. I need to get it into a shop to have it looked over. The money pit never ends does it?

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

I believe they are correct, we reused the ones that were on the engine prior to the rebuild. Dampner hasn't spun, it's still pointing to TDC for #1.

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

Pretty sure it's not cupped tires. I know that sound well, having dealt with it on another vehicle.

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

Correct, I haven't tried dropping it into neutral at highway speed though. That should tell me a lot I think.

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

I was thinking that I should do something with the u joints for sure. I bet they are original and have never been changed. The 904 sounds great, no whining or smell to the fluid. I did change the fluid in the rear end when I got the car 3 years ago, that old gear oil smelled like death, it had...

    Chugging/vibration/noise at highway speed

1974 Dodge Dart Swinger. Newly rebuilt 360 bored .030" turning a bone stock 904 and 7 1/4 stock rear end. So, you can read about my rebuild of the 360 in the forums. It went well, we've been driving it a lot and I really like the power it's putting out, but I think it's leaving something on the...

904 transmission blows 2nd to 3rd shift under heavy power

It was hot, 88 degrees, but she runs cool 190 all day long. I run premium gas in it, which is supposed to be ethanol free. RPM were around 4000 so I don't think its floating the valves. The kickdown works fine, I have the Lokar kickdown kit. It's always kicked down when I need it to. Could be...

904 transmission blows 2nd to 3rd shift under heavy power

My son said this happened to him the other day. I thought maybe the fluid level was low. He said it seemed like it slipped when shifting from 2nd to 3rd when he was hitting it hard. It's a 1974 Dart Swinger with a newly rebuild 360 and a 904 bone stock transmission. Small rear end 7.25" I...

1974 Dodge Dart Bench Seat Problem

:rofl:I figured. Maybe I could install it and show my wife I fixed it, then dump her in the back seat again.

1974 Dodge Dart Bench Seat Problem

I have a problem on the passenger side bench seat. The seat back keeps popping off the hinge pin. The drivers side has a hole for a cotter pin and it keeps it in place. The passenger side does not have a cotter pin. I tried drilling a hole and broke 2 bits off in the process. It seems like it's...
