    Aftermarket gears?

Excellent info thank you. I think I have the perfect clutch then based on that info, just by luck and being cheap...

    Aftermarket gears?

Asking seriously, why does a crappy clutch lead to a 3rd gear issue? Reason i ask is I am running a clutch I should not be, the mcleod street pro with a 440 and A833. I would rather replace the clutch over winter instead of trans gears if i am flirting with danger

So pay a premium for oil that all builders would say should not be used in an old school 4 speed? Your signature is bang on, very wise.. I think you are still mixing up can’t and shouldn’t… I can quote a thesaurus for ya.. ok you hang up, no you, no you… talk soon

You owe the original poster an answer tho ;) you must give just a little bit of a **** or you would have let this go an hour ago…

Actually you have not explained anything to anyone. I am citing Brewer, the builder of the OP's trans, and any and all 4 speed builder like ever.... You are citing who? What evidence? I have never claimed to have your wisdom or intellect, I mean that isn't possible to have TWO people that smart...

    Transmission oil

Lol, settle down there big shoots.... My fault for saying you "cannot" use synthetic, you should just use GL4 because its proven. Better oil how? Explain, you still have not. I obviously touched a nerve and you want to be right so bad its killing you, but still no math, backup, evidence. Why...

    Transmission oil

Sorry, I am going to trust Brewers decades of research and experience. You can even use ATF in an A833, just like your claim that its just fine to use synthetic.... of course they will work because they are lubrication, but you still should not use them as many more times than not the results...

    Transmission oil

For an A833, it is. You disagree with Dan Brewer? Please enlighten me as to how wisdom caught you and not him?

    Transmission oil

How can this turn into a debate? GL4 mineral gear oil. NOT synthetic, NOT GL5 with additive. Its that simple.

    Manual transmission swap

My advice is go with the Malwood pedal and hydraulic bearing. It works amazing, is wayyyy easier to install. Pricey but worth it

Schumacher SB to BB Biscuit mount not fitting

Melling standard.. Mine is about that close as well, Engine torques up on that side not down, so I simply well let's play with a little fire. I added a schumacher torque strap for the same reason mentioned above, not alot of meat left there.

Schumacher SB to BB Biscuit mount not fitting

I am running schumacher mounts, tri y's, A833 4 speed with Borgeson power steering. It all went together quite well but it is a balance for sure, if you're off 1/4 inch everything bangs into each other

Schumacher SB to BB Biscuit mount not fitting

Schumacher has been absolutely amazing with my swap, your comments surprise me

Schumacher SB to BB Biscuit mount not fitting

The Schumacher biscuit comes trimmed, but can you trim a bit more?? I had to buy the Transdap kit because Schumacher was not back from the dead yet at that point, that biscuit is not trimmed so I just kept re trimming until everything cleared

440 - First Engine Build Questions

The weights will not be removed...why would they?? It is still a cast crank which needs to be externally balanced.

    Hydraulic throwout bearing modifications

I suppose you could also stake it with a countersunk grub screw, the same way the American powertrain spacer is staked to the retainer?
  22. Muswagon

    Hydraulic throwout bearing modifications

It would need to be extra tight on the trans? A sleeve would be able to move both within the bearing and on the collar, which is no bueno. If there was a way to have it from not moving on the collar I don't see why it would not work? Those Speedway bearings for $80 make me sad, and almost wish...

Why not go hydraulic if you are doing that scale of resto? Or is this a full on original type resto?

    Any street 440 build suggestions

Mild 440 would be defeating the purpose in an A body in my humble opinion. All iron makes it heavier with only a torque bump compared to a decent small block.

    Any street 440 build suggestions

Depending on budget, suggest eddie 5090 heads. 75cc chamber compared to 84/85 for stealth and any other ally head in the same money range. Cam I went with 21-228-4 comp. .545 lift split and 241/247 duration. Eddie dual plane intake Very very streetable, boat loads of torque and it revs out...
