    Another forklift question

Thanks to both of you for the replies. I picked up a manual from eBay not long ago, I'll flip through it to confirm fluid and/or oil type. The power steering pump doesn't sound happy either, and I'm thinking incorrect fluid could explain these things. I'm hoping it's as simple as that.

    Another forklift question

The lift in question is an older Cat V60B, manual transmission. I haven't been able to find much info on the unit by searching the serial number, seems the Cat dealers don't offer support for ones this old. There are two reservoirs for hydraulic fluid -- one for the cylinders and one that...

    ITS BEEN ALITTLE WHILE

Beautiful! How are you with video editing? You could start a YouTube channel, I know you'd get a ton of subscribers from FABO alone. For me, watching guys lay down paint who know what they're doing is just as satisfying as watching a good machinist run a lathe. But I'm weird like that...

    Teenagers suck

Glad your kid is okay. I look back all the time at when I was a teen and man, I was such a terrible kid! I put my poor parents through hell.

    Exactly 130 days to go.

Congrats! There's light at the end of the tunnel! Mine, too. He retired and started an OTR hauling business. Now I know why I can never sit still -- I get it from him.

Those two sparred for 8 rounds and got paid handsomely. We watched a circus and got duped.

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

Thank you. I do have a service manual, so I'll reference it and double check. I think I get what you're saying -- I was slightly surprised at how easily they backed out, even with the heat and penetrant.

    Is it just ME..???

It's also not uncommon to have to "massage" a rigid line just a tad to get it aligned perfectly. At least in my experience.

    Is it just ME..???

Which hole are you having trouble with and what brand are your parts? I've had trouble with cheap import distribution blocks not mating well with the brake line fittings. Just food for thought.

    Lost one of my dogs

Haha, I don't know why that's the only picture that posted...I'm not computer savvy. But yes, he was such a peaceful soul. Always breaking things up with the other dogs when he thought their rough housing got too rough. I feel grief, but he really was hurting a lot and not getting better...

    Lost one of my dogs

I thought I would share this conversation I had with the vet clinic yesterday. Good for a laugh, if not anything. *ring-ring* "How may I help you?" "My dog died last night and I was wondering if you could connect me with someone who could take his body for cremation." "Oh, I see. Were you...

    cleaning a toilet help needed!

HOLY SMOKES!! How does a toilet get that dirty?? ....don't answer that question I'd attack that in a gross decon fashion first -- diluted muriatic acid and a stiff brush. Flush, repeat. Flush, repeat. Don't forget gloves, eye, and respiratory protection! Get it as clean as you can with that...

    Lost one of my dogs

Oh man, both in the same year -- that's really rough. I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my first dog 4 years ago, almost to the day, and I was an absolute mess. A good friend encouraged me to embrace the grieving process and not shove any emotions down, and I really think it helped me get through...

    Lost one of my dogs

Thanks for all the kind words. Dogs and cats are certainly family, and they enrich our lives in ways people can't. I made sure my boys sniffed his body before I took him away, and brought my neighbors dog over to do the same. I think it's important that they know he died, and didn't just...

    Chinesium Strikes Again!

Most vises these days are made for people who don't know which end of a hammer to hold. You did good to get 10 years out of it. Heck, even Wiltons aren't indestructible. This guy has a few videos putting vises to the test --

    Lost one of my dogs

I adopted Noah in 2011 from a local no-kill shelter. When they introduced me to him, he was alone and curled up on the concrete floor of his "cell," not excited to see anyone. He was clearly depressed. They told me he had been adopted out twice, and both families returned him. I brought him...

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

Thanks! I wasn't opposed to removing the hub at all, but I'm very tight on time and needed to get the lift back in service as soon as I could. I'll take it off when I have some more time, because I really need to look at the brakes.

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

The hardest part about all of this was finding the conical washer, which my forklift guy called a "thimble." I found something online at AutoZone and they were calling it a cylinder head washer. Went to my preferred parts store, which is NOT AutoZone, and they had what I needed. Heated each bore...

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

If I had the time, maybe I wouldda too. I was working yesterday, and my shifts are 24 hours long. So I get off work in the morning, get home and feed the dogs, sleep. Then go hunting for hardware. And of course I can't find the damned transfer punch set that I *swear* I had right here just a...

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

I'm gonna check the two welding supply places near my shop. If they have those rods, great, but I really need to get this done asap. Too much work to do that's requiring the lift. The holes are 7/16", and aiming a mig gun that far down a hole and getting it precise just ain't gonna happen for...

Holy smokes! Never knew those existed. I wonder how that works. The flux creates slag that fills the threads, preventing the weld from sticking?

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

It would be impressive to see a skilled welder perform that task (I am not that welder). I think I'm gonna try the plasma gouging technique, mostly because I'm interested to see how it'll work. The other one I'll try Dana's idea and then use a LH drill bit on the mag drill. The only thing I'm...

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

Thanks! I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but this is the front (drive) wheel. From what I can see, the bolt holes are blind and I wouldn't have access to the other side of I remove the hub. However, I don't think it would be a bad idea to replace the seals while I have the wheel off, so I...

Seeking advice on how to extract broken lug bolts

Hey FABO, somehow I broke a couple lug bolts on my forklift. They're threaded into blind holes, one is pretty close to the surface, and the other is about 1/2" in (referring to the broken ends stuck in the holes). I have a mag drill, and so far, my plan is to drill out what I can while staying...
