    Spare Tire size.

Somewhere on here someone suggested a donut spare from a Lincoln or the like. Kinda liked that idea.

Battery relocation for HANDLING (not drag) - best spot to mount?

I’ve never used the factory jack. I don’t trust them not bending my bumper. Any distance I bring the smallest HF aluminum floor jack. Or I’d rather bring a small bottle jack and wood blocks. I have an aluminum Ford donut spare with center opened up.

Spare tire question for 69 Dart

if it is 5 on 4.5 anything that fits will do. I would get the smallest donut spare I could find. Why trouble yourself with the extra weight, just make sure it clears the brakes.

    Anyone using donut spares?

When I bought my Dart GT it had a "temporary use" spare tire from a Neon (5 on 100mm bolt circle). Nope!! I found and bought another 14" X 5 1/2" sbp Rallye wheel (had to be a Rallye to clear the SSBC front disc brakes) and put the same size tire I'm currently running on the rear, to protect...

Seeing that picture reminds me of the spares in chargers and 300's. Op might check out those.

...out. Have been researching a viable spare that clears everything / fits into spare tire well and has the height especially for the rear with that truetrac back there. Went to the wreckers and grabbed a donut spare from a 2005 charger, like brand new ( $10) . 135/90D17 is the size and works...

Project Crusty Biscuit (65 Plymouth Valiant)

...Incidentally the explorer rear uses 1/2" RH lug studs just like the chrysler front discs. If you can find a 2002 or thereabouts lincoln town car donut spare on an aluminum rim, it will sit flat in the spare tire well and has the same bolt pattern as the explorer and chrysler discs I mentioned.

Spare tire question for 69 Dart

With some research on the internet and input from fabo members I chased down a solution. Went to my local wreckers and found a donut spare from a 2002 charger : 135/90D17 with 5x4 1/2 " bolt pattern. It measures 26" across and fits perfectly into the spare tire well . Also fits perfectly...

...and don't "buy" that line. What does your manual tell you? You could also call contact Subaru customer support. So... if you put your donut spare on your Subaru, it destroys the transaxles or what? Sorry for the rant, but.... my guess is that half their customers buy all four tires no...

    Anyone using donut spares?

Nope, nothing much taller than 26” will fit in the well. Just measure the diameter of the well if you want, it’s not 27”. Just go about half way down the wall and run a tape measure. I can double check the spare I have, but I’m almost positive it’s a 145/80/17, which makes it like 26.1” tall. It...

yes the impco 425 type that bolt directly to a holley carb's base plate. re a filling station, my plan is to have a smaller 'donut' tank in the spare wheel well as a spare with the filler as per normal to use filling stations but the 'main' tank will be the orange propane tanks as used on home...

    Spare Tire size.

I bought a donut spare at pick& pull that looked promising with a tape measure. Think it was off a compact dodge. It was metric and would go on, but the pattern wasn’t close enough to work when I put the lug nuts on. Tossed it. At least I only wasted $5.

    Anyone using donut spares?

72blunblu, I agree with the safety thing of changing tires and ruining rims. My only reason for considering it is being in a rural area AAA is not as fast, if you even have cell service, best bet is to call Dad to get trailer or one of the local tow guys. Most likely end up pulled off in...

When does money outweigh sentimental value? 1968 notchback build thread

Finally found a spare 18" donut from a 370z. Had the center hub bore diameter opened up and it fits front and rear now. It was a big challenge to find a 18" donut, that's 26" tall, with a 4.5 lug pattern. Bought some dorman shank lug nuts in 1/2-20 and all is good. This was the only spare I...

    Barracuda spare tire

Thought this might be helpful. I have a donut from a late model Crown Vic as a spare for my 1965 Barracuda. Yea! Those are similar to the 15x7's that I was referring to! I have a set of those and then the set of new 16's. Though, my steelies didnt come off of 5th ave. They dont have the extra holes across the lugs.

My goal was not a spare for 500 miles but one for “just getting off the highway.” Donut spare tires were my inspiration, but I was unable to come one that fit due to offset. New look for my Barracuda

Another tech tip to keep the same diameterish spare. Look for a 2002 Lincoln town car and grab the donut spare. It's a 25" diameter tire, BBP on an aluminum wheel, and only 4.5" wide so it sits flat in the trunk well. They are easy to lift and move around with that aluminum rim. I have 2 of em...
