    Head gasket woes

    is any of the head gasket hang in the bore or overlap into the combustion chamber? I used to run the thin Mopar gaskets, worked fine on a .020 360, not so good on a .060 340 bore. Both gaskets failed. I use Cometic on everything I build now. They will make custom thickness's for you.

    I'm 65, raced for 21 years. I quit in 1995, sold my stuff, but always had a street car. My Son picked it up in 2006. He is still deep in to it. I do all the maint. to The stocker & the bracket car. I get behind the wheel every now & them, during testing.

    Using a 360, the Magnum pan uses the 360 sized end seals. The Magnum 5.2 also uses the 360 end seals.

    I'm having a problem with the 1-piece Magnum oil pan gasket sealing to the timing cover. I could fill the void with silicone sealer, I try to use as little as needed. We run a Magnum truck pan "rear sump" on a stock eliminator car. It doesn't seem to have enough crush to seal, the back seals...

    Well, he didn't seem to have too much trouble with this one. The reason he dropped the MoPar deal was because Chrysler was broke & trying to borrow money from the government. He had a new Volare being built at the time for the 1980 season, until the cash was cut off.
