Is 1/2" leaf spring relocation worth the trouble?

I think it all depends on how bad you want to run a specific wheel and tire size.

Another question. These numbers indicate a .020 crank undersize right? I can’t find this exact number anywhere but I found these on summit. DODGE King Engine Bearings CR806AM020 King AM-Series Rod Bearings | Summit Racing

Rebuilding 440 after wiping a cam lobe

Melling cam and Mexican made Elgin lifters. That’s all I could get new during 2020 when I was building it and now I’m paying for it. I don’t think the cam was the issue

Rebuilding 440 after wiping a cam lobe

The crank doesn’t have any grooves or scratches. The bearings in question were rod 7 and 8 and those crank journals look and feel the same as the rest of the crank where all the other bearings look brand new. It feels smooth as glass when you drag your fingers over it

Rebuilding 440 after wiping a cam lobe

After about 3000 miles, my freshly rebuilt 440 with factory forged crank had a lifter fail and wiped a cam lobe. I cut the oil filter open and found a bunch of bearing material. I tore the engine down and to the naked eye everything looks perfect except for 2 rod bearings. The crank where these...

    Lifter failure

Pulled the engine today and tore it down. I was pretty surprised at how good everything looked. All the bearings except for rod bearings 7 and 8 were perfect. Not sure why only those two got chewed up but it looks like they were about to get spun! Crank looks and feels perfect. I might’ve got...

    Lifter failure

I bought a FT Comp cam and lifters to put in my spare 440 that currently has no cam at all. I got the cam lube and break in oil to go with it, and some more VR1. This engine will be lower compression, but at least the truck will be running. I’m sure some of you will tell me Comp Cams is trash...

    Oiling ring “wedges”

How important are these little wedge shaped things on the factory oil rings? I lost a few of them and they don’t seem to do anything. The upper and lower oil rings seem to hold the middle ring in place

    Lifter failure

I used Scott’s Machine in Fayetteville Ga for this engine and the one in my Duster. I’m not blaming this on them though. They’ve always done good work. I haven’t been to any local shops around me but I’ve heard there’s a good guy in Sylvania. I just bought a low mileage Winnebago 440 that I was...

    Lifter failure

After draining the oil I was optimistic about not having to rebuild the whole engine again. But then I cut the oil filter open… The material in the filter isn’t magnetic so it must be bearing chunks. I’m sick

    Lifter failure

For being a lifter, it sure does have me down. These were Elgin lifters made in Mexico during the “pandemic”. The 15 other ones look fine to the naked eye.

    Lifter failure

My RamCharger started acting up a few weeks ago. I thought it was an issue with the Holley Sniper EFI that I’ve had so many other issues with, but it turns out one of my lifters decided to wear a hole into itself. Not sure if the cam is hurt or not but I wouldn’t be surprised. I did a full...
