What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

I've been too lazy to run a return line. It would probably help but will also increase the temp in the fuel cell. Likely that should not be an issue and any negatives (more fumes venting) would be outweighed by the positive of keeping the pump somewhat happier. The MagnaFuel pump in it...

69 Dart Hard to Start When Hot, Starts Fine Cold. Vapor Lock?

With my 273, you can actually see the fuel bubbling in the filter. Tried insulating the line from the pump to the filter, and from the filter to the carb with no success. I'd try non-alcohol fuel, but it's not available around here. Thinking about the tri-nozzle filter and a return line to the...

    fuel pump eccentric

Pull the pump and look for wear on the arm. If the eccentric wore the pump arm also would be wore. I have seen the pump arm pivot pin on cheap pumps wear and causing your problem. They get loose and lose diaphragm stroke . Switch out the pump with a better brand. Your problem could be...

Holley 750DP idling issue since rebuild

If the fuel system is good the fuel could be perculating in the fuel pump when the motor is hot. A fuel filter with the return line filter will cure this. Today's gas vaporizes at a much lower temperature than the good old days.

Early A-Body Interior Rear-View Mirror Repair

Well, yeah. Stuff got a lot more expensive than it was 30 or 40 years ago. Points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires (all good stuff, not crap), vacuum advance diaphragm (original is holed), VC gasket, belts, hoses, heater core (they're not $20 anymore), air cleaner, carb rebuild kit, choke...

Fitech Dual Quad fuel plumbing with return line

Fitech answered very quickly to email I sent them. Their official stance is the 2nd picture: "On the duel quad system for plumbing the fuel lines. You can bring the feed line in to the rear throttle body and tee off to the front throttle to supply it. Then for the return line you can return off...

    Intake manifold choices

I don't think the intake swap alone will solve it, after reading. you say the float bowls are not hot to the touch. You may be experiencing fuel percolation in the lines, instead of the carburetor itself. Pay close attention to where the fuel lines run. Are they near any heat sources? Getting...

Ill throw another vote on the return line set up. When I was younger I was around a handful of guys that had always ran return lines so I just assumed it was normal and everyone did it.

Fuel pressure dropping while driving and under acceleration to zero at idle runs 4 lb electric Blue

Yes, but be damn careful and I’d probably have another set of eyes there to help. Blocking that return can and probably will cause a pressure spike which will blow fuel past the needle and seats.

    Fuel lines - why have 2 ?

So I have have 4 A body’s and none of the slant cars have had a return fuel line but my 318 cars have . I have a 318 challenger too and wondering if it’s really a must for have the return line or not . I get why it’s there . But is it a must ? Because many cars in late 60s early 70s didn’t...

    Why run dual quads?

I've run 3 different intakes with 4 different carbs, or 5 plus efi, depending on how you look at it. Built 383, began with a tunnel ram and two Holley 390s. It was ok, slight hesitation at go, drivable, made great hp/torque. Just didn't like those carbs for some reason. Switched to a Torker II...

Which regulator is it? I just looked the 52502 and there is no way I can see how it works. You have an open line back to the tank.

    Fuel Pressure Regulator

I have the Holley in-tank FI pump with the built in pressure regulator and no return line in prep to run the Sniper. What will cause my float bowls to go dry

As others have said, modern gas sucks even when it's non ethanol but it also varies by region. I have the same issue with a pair of holley 4160 carbs, only the front one though, my rear one seems to behave. The poor running on restart after a short stop is caused by the gas percolating in the...

Getting ready to plumb my new fuel system

The ProFlo4 can only handle 10 amps of current on the fuel pump wiring. Use that wiring to trigger a relay using a separate circuit fed from the battery to feed the fuel pump. I used a Summit brand 10 micron fuel filter in the feed line which I used #6 feed and #6 return. If you’re running fuel...

Am I an idiot for wanting to boost a high compression 318?

Pretty sure the fuel return line and emissions cannister and stuff are removed and capped. I like the idea of trying to insulate the lines and getting the gas to recirculate again. I actually do have a pair of 360 heads on the engine. My dad always referred to them as police engine heads but I...

Not on topic, but sort of because its parts related. I was in a pep Boys store in the Edelbrock section, I bought a chromed steel fuel line because my line into my carb has too much rubber IMO, and the salesman said "this is a discontinued part so you wont be able to return it...' I was like...

    Intake manifold choices

Just recalled having a charcoal canister on the car years ago. That's where my cool-can sits now. Having had that canister means I have a return line fitting on my fuel tank hardware. That would make running a return line a whole lot easier. From 'inline', a pre-fit line is $65 or so. Get a...

    Intake manifold choices

Returning fuel to the tank will cool the fuel for two reasons: - the metal return line will dissipate heat in the fuel - the fuel tank has a large amount of steel exposed to the atmosphere which will dissipate heat. Acts like a heat sink.
