    Quincy Air Compressor Help needed

Spoke to Pacific Air Compressor on Friday. They aren't a distributor for Quincy anymore, but are for a sister company, and aren't supposed to sell any Quincy parts anymore. But he asked me to text me some photos of the unit and was going to see what is available. He also told me the most...

I'd forgotten that, but checked today and it is turning CCW, consistent with the arrow on the belt guard.

    Quincy Air Compressor Help needed

Thanks for the heads up on Pacific Air Compressors. The Quincy site doesn't seem to offer any parts, just directs you to the local distributor, about an hour away.

    Quincy Air Compressor Help needed

Thanks for the input, but so far it's just confirming what I've done. Oil is at the proper level. There's a site glass right at eye level to remind me. The unloader valve is how I discovered that I had built a little pressure with the new motor. Still not able to rotate it.

It could be, but I don't think so. I let air out at the end of my piping tonight. I don't understand how that relates to the pump locking up.

    Quincy Air Compressor Help needed

A few months ago, I bought a used Quincy 3-1/2HP 220 air compressor for my new shop. About 5 years old, but only had about 20 hours on it. It ran fine at the seller's house. About a month ago the electricians finally wired my 220 outlet for the compressor. It ran fine then, too. I attached...

    New shop for projects

With a pole building, the poles extend into the ground. This would be much more difficult if the slab were poured ahead. Also, the concrete wraps around the poles (at least on 3 sides) which I believe helps secure and support them. My builder didn't want gravel in it until it had been built...

Planning my shop Build-out for next summer, looking for advice.

My own philosophy is to put everything that I can't easily lift on wheels. Sometimes it's like working a big slider puzzle. Whatever amount of space you have, you will find one more thing that you really need than will fit into it.

Can't Find My Oil Filter Wrenches Anywhere Today

I've always found that the easiest way to find missing tools or supplies is to buy more. Sometimes just ordering them will cause the missing ones to appear, usually though they wait until you've used the new ones (making them unreturnable) that you find the old ones. Generally when you decide...

Since they are nylon, heating with a match or lighter will also stop fraying. May take some practice. That's the way parachute riggers do it.

    minimum polebarn size

I'm a visual thinker, so I tend to mock stuff up. Whenever I've faced a need/desire for a new storage structure, I gather as much of the stuff I want to put in it together, and see how much space it takes up. Can you get around stuff to get what's at the back, or do you have to move everything...

    New shop for projects

Congrats. Make sure they compact the fill really well. Also, pick a spot for the 2 post lift you may or may not get, and have a small trench put in there to ensure enough concrete. Lot cheaper and easier than digging it out later!

What Are The Best Hearing Protection Ear Muffs?

I agree with Scody21, use both muffs and plugs. I did this when I worked at a saw mill, and found a difference using both over either.

Garage Cat Sam (He was big on Mopars - Darts in particular.)

What I've done with dogs is bring the deceased one home and show it to the other one. They are horrified, but don't spend time looking for their buddy.

    Cheap lifts?

I just brought my 2nd Atlas Pro 9D home this week. I would have kept the original, but the logistics didn't work moving from Northern Michigan to Southern Indiana. Mine's just for personal use, I'm building a street rod and use it for service on my Durango and my wife's Town & Country. I like...

What do you look for in a forklift?

I was at Clark when those tip over tests were done. We went to a "winged" seat that kept the operator in place, if they were wearing a seat belt. A seat belt alone has a tendency to whip the operator's head against the floor. We had a stunt man intentionally tip some over ("lateral overturn")...

How Not To Fill Grease Gun

In a previous life I worked with a professional lift truck mechanic. I watched him change a tube of grease one time, and commented on how much neater he was at that than I am. He started laughing, and told me that the last time somebody told him that, he was changing a tube on the customer's...

    Post your Garage wall decor

Not sure if this counts as "Decor" or storage. This stuff was in the way after removal, but I wanted to preserve it. This is my old shop in Michigan. They are starting on my new one this week, in Southern Indiana.

Where to put the air compressor?

DartMan, I like what you did. I'm thinking about something similar when I build mine. I'm building a 40 x 40 shop, where about 8' x ??? will be divided off as my "lawnmower shed". I'm thinking of including the compressor in that area, maybe with it's own closet within, and insulated. I...

How often do you drain your air compressor?

Be honest now. I'm planning to build a new shop in the spring, and plan to get a bigger (noisier) air compressor. In my old shop, I had a 110 v. unit mounted on a stand. When I left for the night, I'd shut off the compressor, and reach under neath and open the drain valve. If I put the new...

    This Is A Heartbreaker....

The trouble is, dumb people don't learn to drive, but they are allowed to anyway. When was the last time you took any kind of a test to renew your license? Indiana and Michigan at most require an eye test, and they encourage you to do it on line or by mail, which skips even that step. I know...

    Zero Turn Mower. I'm stumped.

A few years ago I worked in the service department at a green tractor dealer. A customer brought us a good sized but older garden tractor, and complained that it would cut out frequently, and he'd had to push it onto the trailer. It ran fine when it came in. We ran it and mowed with it (a lot...

    66 barracuda...going for a different look

To be honest, I don't like the rendering you posted at the beginning of your thread, but it's your car, build it the way you want it! Having said that, I do like the pictures I've seen of your progress. Personally, I think the "correct" thing is overboard. I'd rather see a car personalized to...

    any blacksmiths on the line?

Not sure where in Michigan you are, but you might want to check this out: North Woods Forge llc It doesn't look like they have any classes scheduled right now, but it might be worth watching for. To me, there's nothing like hands on instruction! They had one of the local news reporters...
